the color is great!
the form is out of this world!
the stand.....super cool.....(a flood of inspiration comes over me)
------two questions------
hows the draw on that piece?
Is seems to me that the spirals would constrict the air flow making a hard pull.
What would you do differently next time?
I really like this piece..thanks for sharing-----Jeff

Excellent work. I love the flow of the curls. That stand is perfect too. It reminds me of an oil derrick.
@ alien, thats wicked. i was wondering what this piece would have looked like in red lol even the names...wtf? great minds think alike ;)
actually this started out as a small custom 2 piece sherlock for a friend last sunday. he drew something up for me a while back. i wanted to use the gg tube, as its been floating around the shop for a while. i started testing the the tubing by seeing what it could handle by just making a couple of sections. it took a beating, great tubing, so it kinda went from the there. i then realized this would be a better as one big piece, so i just kept making sections and put off the custom piece for another day.
then i cleaned my bbq pit so i could make burgers thinking i'd put it together monday. but while the coals were heating up, my a.d.d took over and this started to come together. i abandoned one section that wouldn't flow and rearranged the design as i put it together. that little section in the middle was the original mouthpiece. i worked on the stand at the same time and annealled it the next day.
@ innerversion, i agree about the stand, its my favorite part, looks like metal. the draw is great. next time maybe bigger?
@ mecha, thanks for recognizing. inspriation for the stand came from darby's oil rig

Nice work.... That tubing can take a beating fo sure...
Ok you made me want to order some tubing I saw the pics of the dichro tube but after seeing this I gotta get me some.
forgot to say earlier but thanks everyone!
the golden gate dichro tube was bomb diggity. i remember jello posting somewhere that it was pretty durable. so i pushed it pretty far in all aspects to see what it could take. lots of heat and still blinging, out of the flame for really long periods too. will be getting more hopefully or learning how to make this goodness myself
