Anyone from here attending? Be my first time. I'm basically just going to support the show and meet some new people. C&G will have a bunch of my glass and I'll be chillin with these guys. Just wanted to see who else was going....

I'm in pretty much the same boat, first timer planning on just chillin' in vegas for a few days and hoping to get some orders. But since i'm not being allowed to sell my work myself, I'm going to have a lot of free time, and I'm down for meeting up with any talkglassers who feel like it!

Gordon those Ghost colabs are amazing! I'll definietly be by to check that out.

So, I've got a couple of questions for anyone who has done this show before, concerning what I would assume is any glassblowers favorite part of any show... getting PAID! :spend:

Now as I understand it, If I bring some samples of production pieces I'd like to take orders for, I can sell the samples during the show but still hang on to them until after (so they're still useful as samples), then ship them to the buyers afterwards since nobody wants to take them back home on the plane. Is that more or less correct? Should I assume this type of sale would be paid up front with cash/check? Who covers shipping?

And as for taking orders on as-yet unmade pieces, how is payment for that usually handled? Up front, on completion, or some combination of deposit first, then the rest later? And how soon are the orders typically expected to be finished?

Sorry for the noobish questions, just trying to figure out what I should expect, and whether I have any hope at all of coming back with $$ in hand to cover next months rent, and materials for filling these hypothetical orders. :puzzled:

I'm still new to glass, and missed all of the ticket sales. But hopefully I'll be able to make it next year. Plus, I'll be 21 then =)

You are probably thinking of AGI, not AGE. No tickets for this.

Yes you can sell them at the show and ship them afterwards, but some people like to pick up their pieces at the end of the last day to bring them home with.

When I take orders for unmade stuff I usually give them a time estimate, and call them like a week before I start the order to get paid. Then when the check clears I make the order and ship it. I try to keep wait times as low as possible (under 2 months) as to not lose orders from finicky customers. The customer always pays for shipping. If your wheelin and dealin maybe free shipping is a bargaining chip. Good luck I know you do great with your work.
