Hey, sorry if this is somewhere else, been searching, and maybe I've just been using the wrong terms, but I picked up some color tube pull ends from sunray and I'm looking to play with 'em. they are pretty thick and contain the inner clear tube and then you can see the color that it was dipped in and a clear coat.

Just wondering how you guys handle this stuff, they are saw cut on one side and the other side you see a little of the inner clear tube sticking out. Should I run them through an annealing cycle? not sure if they were annealed originally, tried sticking one piece on a 38mm point and it exploded :bangHead: before i could attach it while i was heating the cut end, luckily it was the smallest one, I'd hate to loose any more.

I'll be grateful for any tips, or if you know what terms i should be searching for, that'd be great too.

thanks,
Derek

put it in the kiln with some sticking out and bring it up to temp before going in and attaching a blowtube. pull out and attach.

you could also use a punty somewhere in there if u wanted to im sure.

there are other threads about this.

depending on how thick it is.. i have seen a few that are very thick. i put them in a cold kiln and ramp it up in a reverse order of my cool down cycle. once they are all the way hot i grab them with tweesers on the clear in and weld a handle on. then back in the kiln to soak (skip if it welds up fast and is still hot, then weld a good thick point or blowtube on and start to heat the whole thing. thinning the wall and pulling it down. and tearing it into smaller more useable chunks.
