Went back to basics yesterday and made a bare bones inline. I decided to forgo superfluous decoration and even fused the bowl straight on. Truth is, I couldn't find my box of joints in a pinch. It's hand built and took me under half an hour to construct, prep time included.
I think I could have discarded with the ice pegs, I've been told no one really uses them and I think it detracts from the line of the bend.
Let me know what you think ... did I make the bowl too big?

I may not have the best reputation on here, but I've smoked plenty of pipes.
I think the bowl might be to big for the numer of holes in the stem. They look a little large and uniform, that may just but it might just be the angle.
It's much better than anything I'm capable of right now though. Great job.

Thanks for checking out my piece!
I thought I'd try slightly larger holes because I think they won't block up as easily, seeing there is no way to have an ash catcher with the fused-on bowl, I might have to get it tested ;) ... now that I'm looking though, I can see how uniformity could be a problem, I'll try and address that issue. Thanks!!!

no carb!
you'll only be able to load as much as could be finished in one lungful, because if you filled the whole bowl it would stay rollin and fill with stale smoke.
Still a super dope 2+/hr piece.

First of all, don't smoke pipes. Even if you can get the glass, metal, etc to burn, it can't be good for you.
Second...holes in the stem? Do you mean the inline diffuser? Will you please explain to me why the holes being uniform is an issue. Uniformity in plucked holes in an inline is a hard thing to master. Do you even know what plucked means?
However, you are right about one thing. You will have to be able to run you torch and weld rods long before you can do ring seals. Have a feeling you won't wait that long to try though.

I would suggest a thicker connection to the base, and a wider base too. It looks a little unstable and easy to tip. especially with an angled neck, they tend to get bumped into more than uprights while being used

^ teeeheee, I had to read that twice and laughed both times!
Eric, thanks, I've been pulled up on the no carb issue before (by Aymie actually), but some of the clients I have go at it like honey badgers and would probably whoof that bowl down in one go and clear the chamber! But I'll keep the carb in mind, hopefully I can find my box of joints and the next one will have a slide or snapper on it. I'm also thinking maybe an upline ashcatcher so I can make the main inline holes smaller.
Still a super dope 2+/hr piece.
It really did take me under half an hour to make from go to woe!
Collapsed, thanks, a wider base is a good idea. Although it's pretty stable, more stability is always good. It'll make the whole thing look more balanced as well.

Idk man, for me that might actually be harder than making a full size inline, keeping everything clean on tubing that small is a pain in the ass for me. What size tubing did you use for the inline part.
