Prism Glassworks is actively looking for 2 new crew members. No glassblowing experience is required, but obviously a plus. Serious motivation and drive are definitely mandatory though. It is an extremely difficult road you are choosing to embark down. But if you are able to make it to the end, the rewards are life changing. You can download an application on our website troyglassstudio.com. We will accept entries by email, facebook, and youtube. If you are emailing us please include in the title the word "Newb" followed by your first and last name. We will be selecting people for the first class September 15th so i would hurry with your application. Good luck to all!

I'm looking for a lampworking job... I would like to learn new styles of blowing glass...I am self motivated and working with borosilicate colors alone is more than interesting to me. I have my own tools, glasses, tanks, regs, bla bla bla...you'd still have to pay me or at the least supply room and board and safety breaks...you know what I mean...I have a truck to pay for so that needs to get paid....I'd blow enough glass pipes that paying my bills shouldn't be a big deal if your running liquid oxy....I live in Binghamton which isn't very far away from Troy NY. I have lots of color right now....I live in the sticks...ya it sux and I'm looking for a stable source of employment that includes lampworking....the head shops around here buy China and/or blow their own glass and don't buy local pieces unless they are marked super cheap (complete BS!) Anyhow why would you want to waste you supplies and gas/oxy on a newb??? They ain't going to make you money....but I will! You just got to keep me floating....Think about it...I don't cut corners though...See ya....Erik Johnson

Do you already have employees under you?, Slick has a good point, why wouldnt you be activly seeking people with like a year or 2 of experience? newbs will waiste materials like crazy and who knows if they are truly going to even want to do it. im sure you know what your doing, just my point of view.

I was under the impression that all of us with under a few years of experience were "noobs" in the grand scheme of it all...
Sounds like an great opportunity. I've got some thinking to do...

Experienced Glassblowers are always welcome to fill out the application. Once all the applications are in the interviews will begin. There are 5 of us here right now. We are building four more benches for rent or we will fill them with contractors.
