He was saying that he has always shied away from pipemaking. And how recently he has been inspired and re-energized by the pipescene.

Yeah, thats awesome. Its hard to deny the impact the pipers have had on this medium over the last decade and a half. It seems like we would be nowhere near where we are today without the pipe scene. I was talking to my friend the other day about it and we were talking about how one day these functional art pieces will probably be worth quite a bit, as it tells a story of the evolution of glass in this time period.
I can just see it on Antiques Roadshow 2100... "This is a magnificent example of an early work by (insert favorite piper here), as you can see it is quite functional and was used to smoke tobacco at a time when it wasn't entirely accepted. This culture of pipe making eventually led to some of the greatest glass artists that we now know today, and pioneered many techniques that they now utilize. Just an exquisite piece, that I would value conservatively at $3 million Ameros. Thanks for bringing it in."
