Concepts and Creativity: finding your voice in boro

This will be a four-day workshop developing skills for bringing the imagery of our mind into reality. Utilizing methods for exploring individuals’ ideas, inspirations, and beliefs, pulling from their conscious and unconscious mind, as a class we will design forms that we will then work together to bring into creation. Incorporating a variety of classical and contemporary glass techniques, student will have the chance to strengthen and broaden their vocabulary of expression within this medium. Experience suggested.

the 10/mo get's you access to the server full of vids, although it is just new and has a fairly small amount at the current moment. If you want to add additional access to the live streams or the data from those there after it's 50/stream.

now, before i go off let it be known i'm not with jello, one of his close friends or whatnot. I am strictly someone from the glass community, someone who has paid for a membership and live streams.

The ability to get access to web courses or live streams of well known glassblowers doing live classes is something that has lacked in our field and is only now coming about. Glasscraft has just recently started doing online workshops, one a while back with banjo to test server stability and a course coming up from Salt on the 20th. They are looking at $150 bucks for people to watch the stream.

With glasscraft the 150 will cover you watching the 2 hour stream only. Once it is done you wont get access to the data. They plan to later put the data up available for access over limited time, expect 50-100 bucks to have 4-7 days access to the data. $150/course is fairly cheap when you realize that a course with Salt is normally $500 bucks, the trip to get there, 2 nights of hotels etc etc. I've been looking at courses from him and his like and have always expected them to cost me 2 grand each, 150 is basically free in comparison. Further, I am taking this course, and I will pay for the D/L later when the Glasscraft server comes up to go over it again.

What jello is offering with GlassQ.com is a website that glass artists the world over can post up tech videos and probably get paid from glassq for their vids (watch eusheens filla video and you will know why they should get some cash). $10 bucks a month for access to that is a minimal cost tbh. I expect the volume of videos in the 10/mo area to grow dramatically over time. First off though, jello needs to get the technicals worked out and he is working on that atm (new server coming soon etc etc).

Fifty dollars as a charge to watch a live stream of RAM, Eusheen, Kaj Beck, etc is 3 times smaller than the cost from glasscraft and honestly in my mind is too low. That said, that's the pricing he has come to, so $50 bucks it is. Now not only do you get access to the stream to watch it once for 50 bucks, you get access to the full day(s) of data whenever you want to look back over it. I repeat, whenever you want. This will be invaluable if you are having trouble with a certain thing and need to watch something over and over. This is something you can't do with a live course or with glasscrafts course. Not only that, but jello will be editing the hours and hours of data down to a shorter version that cuts out the dead time. all of that for 50 bucks? seriously.

so yeah, you need to be a member ($10/mo) to get access to downloads, and then you need to pay for each additional stream you want to download...but think about this...

This is putting quality glass videos in the hands of people who want to learn for prices they are able to afford.

you have 10 bucks to spend a month? well this month you can learn how to do a fillacello from eusheen that is seriously high quality work.

you want to spend a bit more than that? well you can add in hours of learning for 50 bucks every so often. No matter how much you plan to spend through glassQ.com you will never get close to 10% of the cost of taking a live course with the same people, and there is no way you will be learning the things these courses will teach for free.

The idea of getting a course from RAM/eusheen for 10 bucks hurts my brain, sure it might read that way and jello might want to change the wording slightly, but lets get serious. These are world renown artists in our field and they should be respected accordingly.

I for one will be there for any and every course that comes up on the web. Every glasscraft course, and every glassQ live stream. If someone else gets into the mix, I'll be there for that too. You can never know enough, and with these prices I just don't see how anyone could say no, let alone think they are too pricey.

Now, I'm going to take a different swing at this. I am going to attack this from the angle of being completely uninformed and reading the quote off the website and deal with the language of the quote.

My reasoning behind this, is that part of me thinks that your arguement isn't on the pricing but on the language. You, me and anyone else knows that 10/mo +50 is cheap, but the language reads funny.

I can see how this can can be seen to say the wwbshops and such are included in becoming a premium member....

Jello, I might change the wording a bit to something a bit more like this :

You need premium membership in order to view this video, Membership rewards includes countless hours of video instruction and tutorials by major glass artists. Premium members also enjoy the ability to purchase glassQ.com exclusive Live multiday webshops, which they will have the ability to watch on demand. Becoming a Premium Member is the first step, and besides access to our video catalog, Premium Members will get the ability to post their own videos, pictures of their glass and communicate with our glassQ.com community, as well as many more features. Premium membership is only 10 bucks a month, get started now!

This style of wording will eliminate this issue from popping up in the future. You don't need to use that specifically, but i think that type of idea will fix this issue from popping up again.

Going on one step further to address the issue of getting kicked off of videos every 15 seconds, this is an issue that has been there since I signed up. It is annoying, and I hope jello can get it worked out for the masses soon. The way I look at it for this month, cause I assume jello will get this worked out in the next week or so, is that the first course with kaj beck is 60 bucks. I would personally pay 100 very easily, so 60 is fine. It is annoying to see video's there I can't watch, but I know that will get worked out soon.

Sorry that dragged on for so long, and hopefully this isn't seen coming from the wrong place.
