So as I'm sitting at an art show browsing the melting pot on my iPhone, an idea hit me. I would love to see a meltingpot app for smartphones. I know it's work to make an app, but it could be sold ( i'ld pay up to $10 ) or could be thrown in as a free gift with a decent sized donation... Say with donors giving $25 or more. This would make it more user friendly for those of us with smartphones, and generate a little extra revenue for talkglass.

I wish at least TapaTalk worked with this forum. Its not a bad forum app.

I agree, an app or at least a mobile theme for the forum would be great. There was a bit of a discussion here earlier (http://www.talkglass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=34113), and also the staff has discussed it a bit.

The forum upgrade we're working on includes a mobile theme. It's easy to browse on a phone, and works well for basic things liek posting and reading threads. It is a little limited at the moment, and doesn't include image uploads or adding rep, for instance.

App-wise, there's an official app from our forum software provider, VBulletin, and also third party apps such as Tapatalk. The various options differ in whether the forum pays, or each app user pays, or both.

it was fine on my droid but this iphone isn't really as tight on vbulletin. it'll be fixed, all of the admin here struggle to update the forum on the road (juln makes it look easy). patience friends, this is inevitable.

Thanks Tsnider. This isn't really an iOS app writing job, though. There are a few apps that exist which integrate with VBulletin and writing our own would be not be an efficient undertaking. We'll most likely employ the official VB mobile app, or Tapatalk.

We're continuing to move to upgrade the forum, and attention to mobile is a significant part of that.
