I have this machined locally but due to only having one machine shop in the area I am not sure if I am getting a good deal.
I was wondering if anyone on the board does machine work and what you might charge to do this for me.

This is 3/8 x 5/8 brass bar stock with an approximately 2mm x 6mm groove machined down it's length. I usually get the stock in in 48 inch lengths and cut it down to 24 for easy handling. I use these as spacers and a consistent size is very important. Right now I have 8mm, 10mm and 12mm sizes made

The groove is all I need done. I then drill and cut into a spacer for my masher. I have a good supply on hand but will need some produced by April.
End product looks like this

Thanks for looking.
Happy New Year to all.

yo, i could probably do it for you in my spare time... shouldn't be that long of a process at all, just a couple swipes with the end mill... though i dont think we have that bit but its readily available from our supplier.

i gave up glass pretty much to help start and grow a fabrication buisness, ive done cnc for the past 3 years. im moving on to fulltime laser work and cnc press brake work.. but the mill is always available to me anytime...
pm me and we can talk more about it.

This part doesnt need a "cnc" really. It could be done on a bridgeport manual mill with a auto feed table on it just as easy. Just curious as to why you picked brass over aluminum? Infact you could buy a. 3-1 machine and do these yourself at home.

nice looking masher! i like all of the brass on it, and those stops for setting thickness are a nice idea. how is the handle -not the wood part, but the C-shape below it- mounted to the body? glue? brazing? invisible fasteners?
the thumb screws are a nice touch... i wish those came standard on all claw grabbers. i just learned that thumb screws are hard to find in brass- i was trying to make cherry wood cheese slicers with all brass hardware for christmas

Thinking about the aluminum for the spacers. I have mad a proto type and it took longer to tap out as it is much stickier. That and the milling cost was the same made it a no go but if I could do it all in house it would change things. What is a 3 in 1 machine?

Handle mount is attached to the plate with SafetySilv 45 soldier. Brazing got the plates to hot and they wanted to warp which ruined them for my purpose. Silver solder does a nice job and has a high enough melting temp to hold.

Blake, thanks for the offer and I will be in touch when I need more.
