So I think my 4-stud phantom is coming just around the corner. I havent set up a 4-stud torch on my own yet. I've done everything else for studio setups just not this. I want to make sure that my first order of hose/torch accessories is my last order. since I live in Saudi I dont want to wait two weeks or more in between shipments of necessary items. since Im getting this torch new, what should I add to the order to ensure I can set it up proper when it comes? also, which is your preferred L-marver for the phantom?

thanks for any advice. . .

Happy new year all!

You run four lines total, as if you're hooking up two torches. The easiest way to do that is with a http://www.glasscraftinc.com/home2/gla/page_5935 on each line, either right at the regulator or later on. The type of Y without valves makes the most sense.

For larger torches, some people get a Y to split it at the tank, and use a total of 4 (or 6) regulators. That's probably not needed for a Phantom.

what does this mean?

GTT offers the plastic y connector. not worth it? go with the one you showed on glasscraft?

they offer the 'y-hoses installed' I should probably add that right?

thanks for the help julian

By no valves, I mean that there's another type of brass Y commonly seen which has knobs to shut off each outlet, but that's not useful in this case so I'd prefer the type pictured.

Reading GTT's web page, it sounds like they'll d all of this for you.... so there's no special considerations to setting the torch up, unless you have a foot pedal.

If you can swing a pedal, DO IT!!! Buying brass Y's will cost about $50, buying a pedal (no y's needed depending where you get it) is about $200. The extra 150 is worth it with a 3 stage torch. Click on, click off.

all the accessories for the gas like regs and hoses, as well as well as studio set up needs like materials an ventilation can be easily attained here.

I'm gonna take some time and learn the torch better until I get a pedal. I know the advantages so thats why Im getting a four stud, but I'll hold off for a couple months at least.

I gotta agree w Kaizen on this one. the footpedal makes using a multi stage torch SO much more convenient, and saves on gas for sure! Its like giving urself a third hand! But aside from the Y's and regs and flashback arresters u should b good.

Also Ive used a few diff torch mounted marvers, but L marvers are the tits. I love my blastshield marver. I didnt get the actual shield but id recommend having the optional mount installed by them, in case u ever decide to add a shield. PLus u can have them add stuff to the marvers, like a brass V

congrats on the setup. Im sure ur stoked!!!! and u should b

I'd use 1/4" pipe thread tees, street elbows, and hose barbs/b fittings
