I was moving some stuff from my old studio, to my temporary studio (in my parents garage) including my F-130. The door of the kiln was bouncing on my back window of my explorer and I didn't want it to break the glass, so i opened the window.

Drove about 2 miles before i was at a red light which is less than 1/8 of a mile to my house where I was going. I pulled off the red light, not fast or anything, normal speed and to my surprise (and much more of the person behind me) the f-130 toppled out of my truck!

Well besides the broken brick, and a dent on the housing protecting the elements in the back, the kiln is 100% fine, turned it on and it got hot and works!!! This thing is built like a tank!!

Hope you enjoy the photo!

Ouch. The damage to people and kiln could have been so much worse. I'm glad you/it are ok.

luckily the person behind me must have watched it fall out in slow motion, so no one was hurt, and as i pulled over to decide what the hell to do, there was a cop going the other direction and i ran up to him and told him "hey! thats my kiln! it just fell out of my truck!!"

he went and blocked it for me so no one would hit it, i picked it up and put it back in my car, i showed him a glass sculpture i had in my passenger seat, and gave him my card and told him if he needed any gifts to give me a call

Bahaha, Johny Law is gonna order an 18" studded glass billy club. I'd cry if that happened to my kiln. So so so lucky it's fine

I'm glad that you and your kiln are okay. Thanks for sharing the picture.

Years ago a friend came to the Paragon factory and loaded a crated kiln in the back of her pickup truck. On the way home, she looked out the rear view mirror and noticed that the kiln was gone, so she pulled off the freeway, turned around, and found the kiln by the side of the road. Drivers stopped and helped her load the kiln into the truck.

After she uncrated the kiln, she found that it was still in perfect condition!

Sincerely,
