the "New Posts" button

well I really thought this was great until recently! It misses posts I can't figure the rhyme or reason but it does. Has anyone else noticed or is it just me? Could someone be logging in under my name? (I really doubt it why would they bother)
Possibly some glitch in the software?

example is the frit disposal thread. I posted and was following the thread. Today I just noticed there were two replies from the last time I read it.(that did not show in new posts) I probably wouldn't have noticed at all but with my posting spree I had to go to glass discusion room to post a new thread.

If you forget to log out, the posts that are made while you're logged in are marked read. Also, if you're logged in but idle for a long time, all the posts just get marked read. At least, that's what I think happens, because I've noticed the same thing - so I'm anal about logging out now, and that seems to help.

I don't think you actually have to log out...but as long as you close the window that has the forum in it, the posts won't get marked as read while you're idle. When you have the forum open, just make sure you're actively browsing and you shouldn't have any problems

It logs you out when you close the window, so it accomplishes the same thing. If it's my only Firefox window I usually leave it open and just log out so I can leave the program running.

RacerX, you need to get some adware and spyware programs to clean up your computer, you're infested. I use Ad-aware and Spybot.

i am constantly having things marked as read ... even threads i nerver ever opened ... click take to first unread and it takes me way way down past things ive never seen ..


and the window wasn't open, hell sometimes its when i hav'nt been on all day,for topics ive never seen!! as well sometimes it marks as unread thing i've read ... even when i reload - skip cache! [former IT support guy - and i see no rhyme or reason!!]

it gives you a time frame....

i got caught by this once.

but as long as you use the back button after a thread you should have it work. but then agian if you wait to long... then press the button then it marks them as read and gets the new ones. it also counts inactivity.

most the time i have to hit mark forum as read... so i can figure out whats new after too long.

I notice thread views go down some times instead of up also. like the other day. One of my posts was at 2001 views. then the next day it was 1964 views.

its no big deal just makes it a little tougher to read everything...
