Last year was good, and it can only get better, this is their 3rd year of holding the glassfest in Corning NY. If you haven't been and are fairly local it's definately worth the trip, lot of activities for the weekend and if you haven't been to the corning museum of glass, that's worth a few hour car drive by itself. Milon Townsend will be their guest judge for the flame off this year. Hope to see this event continue to grow as they expand and make the event better.

this runs from May 24th to the 27th, hope to see some of you out there.

nobody? for real? I know they are not pipe friendly out there, but some of the art from last year was pretty awesome. Also if anyone knows of any shops in NY that are worth taking a stop at off of I-88 between Corning and I-90 let me know, i'm looking for some places to stop on my way back.

I might check it out. Corning is like an hour away. Which day would you say is best?

Also, not directly on your route, but you could easily head through Ithaca on your way back to MA and check out the shops on the commons. I think there are 5 there now.

Mecha: Friday or Saturday both have flame-offs friday is individual and saturday is 2 person teams, Last year the individual competition only had 4 or 5 people I believe and the team competition was 4 teams of 2 from what I remember. It was good to watch for a hour at a time, but since was only a few people, i would end up taking a break and walking down the street to check out what the vendors had, and then stopping back. Also world glass seemed like a decent shop if you need any supplies while you are there. So I'd suggest Friday or Saturday, thats when the action is happening, also they have hot shop demos near the visitor center, so thats fun to watch as well, thats all day both days, with additional demo's there, which they don't have a schedule out for yet. Hopefully they will get a schedule out soon... check out www.glassfest.org

Jeff, I'll be heading east from the 88/90 interchange, thanks for the message though.

Oh and I'm easy to spot if you want to say hi, I'm 6'4" and always wearing a black shirt with short blondish hair and a long reddish goatee.
