View Full Version : Best torch for dabbers and inlines
Gonna be melting glass soon, so excited :bouncy:
What should i get to make like, heady stuff and dabbers and DI rigs and stuff? I'm thinking either red max or GTT Delta.
Are those torches OK for that kinda stuff? I don't want to get held back cause of tools.

Fuck the red max man, gtt or die. I don't think it's actually possible to heat glass to its melting point with a red max.
If you want big, thick dabbers, go with the Delta Elite.

Big fat Dillie Dabbers hahaha. You gotta make those on at least a python.

Well shit... I've just been using my BIC...
delta mag or cobra....i use my redmax for heating my TI, it is the only thing that it is good for( and roasting chickens that i chuck up on my lathe.)
oh, you forgot to ask what size tubing.
all my inlines are 75x9 jacketed in 110x2.5
hope this helps!

Whatever you do... get a foot pedal.. Its IMPOSSIBLE to make a good dabber without a foot pedal.
themoch
04-30-2012, 08:19 AM
you'll want at least 3 foot pedals if you get the HA. this way you can control the full range of flame sizes.
I would suggest getting like 10lbs of Nile. It is the most Ro$$ color of them all.

You might look into a Herbie 40 or 65 for a good hand torch for those dabbers. Just take the base off and connect it to piece of broom stick.

I would go with the biggest GTT you can get! These kids keep stepping up there dab game pretty soon you will be making dabber spoons!
I was thinking about how pussy even a mirage is for making dabbers. Fucking herbie's suck hella balls for dabber's they are 4 hollow work yo!
If gtt would stop making all those fag torches for oxy con's they could get on making a dabbers torch with a Cheetah inner delta middle and a 144 port outer ring.

i paid 3300 for a dabber torch, but only managed to make 2 dabbers so far, and one broke :(

I'd get a GTT Mirage... that's what Dabio makes all his dabbers & rigs on.
shouldn't be hard to find a deal on a lathe these days might as well grab one

Mer your asking for it. Better post a pic so the other inventors can ask for some prop's. I think we should do a heady dabber trade.

if your serious about your dabbers though, you need the chode (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dragon-King-Fire-Surface-Mix-Center-Fire-Glass-Blowing-Glass-Torch-Lathe-Torch-/221013220278?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item33756a1bb6)
I hate to let out make secrets but i have two pythons crossfired. Make totally baller dabbers this way.
Thanks for all the input, but I probably won't go those routes ( or take any of you guy's advice, But I will regurgitate it to the other fledgling workers)
I think a 65mm Herbie is the way to go, because it's like a lightsabre but with fire. gonna turn the A\C on in my studio ([apartment]) for ventilations... do you think If i got a "reflective light \ vent hood" it would move enough air if i took the tube off and hooked it through the A\C?

To the OP, ignore the ignorance displayed in this thread. If you are really in this for the long haul, throw down and get a custom "Pogo" torch designed by GTT. All the cool kids have them. You just can't beat getting exactly what you want. It's a little known fact that W&W will make a torch and name it after you if you are dabtastically dabberific.

Dabbers are out, straights are in fools. Just snap off four inch pieces of thin walled 9.5. Make a little rose out if ribbon and put it in the tube. For some reason they sell quicker if you bundle them with chore boy pads...not sure what's up with that.

im not raggin on anyone im just saying take it one step at a time dabbers are kind of tech and I think youd be better off working out some basic triple can inlines and simple hand spun tubes for a while before you try your hand at some of the more advanced dabber techniques once you get down your double ring seals can make some decent fillachellos and have tree percs figured out then maybe you can condider getting a delta mag or a 65 Zenit and pushing towards dabbers and still don't expect anyone to buy your early work it can take weeks maybe even a month before youre good enough to call yourself a master at any one technique let alone the aggregate skill set required to form even one end of a dabber and we haven't even talked about dishes yet Seriously Pogo some of us have HUNDREDS of hours on the torch and it's a little bit disingenuous of you to come in here expecting to just be able to buy all the gear and think this comes quickly

I don't want to spend 100's of hours of my life trying to perfect the unobtainable. Isn't there some sort of class one can take to master the skill in a day or 2? Because any thing that takes more then a day or 2 to reach perfection just seems like to much of an effort. esp in this biz when the new next big thing could come and go in that time.
Have you got streamers down like that guy with the midrange ?
He does streamers real good.
Maybe the midrange is a good torch for streamers, he wants to upgrade
because the midrange isn't good enough to support his 12 children so
maybe you can buy his midrange and learn to do streamers like he does.

Wow, all you noobs take notes because this is THEE definitive answer to the original question.......
Snatch up 5 Kobuki's, remove the bases and configure them into a cradle burner formation. Attach that to the biggest lathe you can find and BAM! There is your perfect burner for dabbers. Just toss a 4 foot section of 2mm clear in the chucks, work it down into a ball, pull it out to about 7mm (cause all of us ballers know that ya can't find good 7mm clear anymore). Push your marias. Make your terminations and you are done.
As for the inlines, I like to go all old school. I use a Bic lighter with a bellows attachment. Yes, it might take a bit longer but the finished product is sooooo sweet.
Julian
05-05-2012, 05:59 AM
Uh.. no, I hate to day it but that won't make good 7 mm. I produce mine in a vac stack type process - bundle 3 mm inside a tube of 70x5, vac down and pull.
