Looking for Skilled Blockers and Blowers. This is a for real job with benefits and a full time week
So send me a Pm and tell your Soft Glass blower buddies. Location is in West Virginia at a factory that has been in business for almost a hundred years.
Warning this is not art glass.. this is factory production work.. but if you know any thing about this type of work these jobs don't come around that often.
Send me a pm and well talk I don't wanna give my bosses number out if you don't have past experience.
thanks
oh yea the main objects produced are Lamp globes and shades that cover street lights down to house hold light shades German System is a factory syestem Usually made of Gathering boy, Ball boy Blocker, Blower, mold holder, and Crack off boy. I would say if you have experiance at any of these positions and are interested in work to give it a go..

Dying art in general yes. But what you guys are making isnt art its mass produced factory work. What you are looking for is super experienced grunt labor. Chances are anyone qualified to do the work with the experience you requested already works in another hot shop or their own shop. Find some local kids and train them to be block "boys"

^^ this, Also you posted this yesterday, maybe give it a little more time then 24 hours to get a response. Most people on this site, at least active members seem to work with Boro so you might have a hard time. Regardless id try locally like vertigo suggested.

I have done boro work for 8 years. I know all about it Just thought there might be some people with experience in both
Kill the hostility please as I am really tryen to help some people out there who may not have a job.
I replyed quickly becouse I was exicited.
This in no way bennifits me and "boy" work is what its called so don't get offended.
Back in the day you tought your son to gather for you.. so he was the gathering boy and it just kinda stuck around I wish more people in the boro comunity had an understanding of how much skill is involved in soft glass work
thanks

no hostility here, there is just a better forum specifically for furnace workers
also I know a thing or two about furnace work http://www.talkglass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39839

I don't think anyone here hates offhand work, or really has any problems with it at all. Of course there's lots of skill involved... and thousands of dollars worth of equipment which most of us can't nearly afford. This gig sounds like a great job, but probably isn't attractive to people used to sustaining themselves as glassblowing artists/entrepreneurs.

Nah, you're good!
Although I can see how it's easy to think that ... apparently there's people around here who are under the impression that 33 > 104 ... but it's just a lot of elitist hot air with no substance behind it.
This is, after all, supposed to be the place "where all glass addicts melt together".
Having said this, the guys are right, a dedicated furnace forum might churn up more interest. Good luck!

no one was getting mad about soft glass, it was the way you were kind of putting the community down that got a rise. acting like we dont care kind of in your second post. you started the hostility and got a bit back. its all good, no harm intended :)

Ok I was not putting the comunity down just trying to be a part of it.. I have been a member since ez boards. I was in no way putting down the "Comunity" by saying soft glass is dying cuz there used to be hundereds of glass factories all over america and now there are very few
Internet drama is bs
Still looking for Skilled Blockers And Blowers
