The "incense" was taken off the shelves here. I'm sure that had an impact on pipe sales.

I've been running low on tubing lately so i've pretty much been restricted to higher end work to conserve resources. They sat around for a few weeks but i just sold everything except one piece and he told me to come back as i had cleaned him out.
Finally building up my glass fund.
Sorry to hear your having a rough time Dennis. Things will pick back up. Around here summer is the slowest part of the year because everyone is outside doing stuff instead of playing videogames and breaking pieces when they reach for the malt liquor over the remote control.

Are you talking about the synthetic legal MJ? I hear people asking about that at a festival. I thought it was funny considering the situation. Why would anyone want that stuff?
I think that it affected the sales of indian pipes around here. The same stores sold both. Mostly gas stations and stuff like that.

Adapt to the situation and try harder.... Everyone hits bumps in the road

Nomad: Yes, that's the stuff. The only head shop in town carried it as well as most every corner store. Very popular 'round here as this is a mill town and if you can't pass a drug test, you don't work. I'm not condoning its' use, just stating facts.

Sounds dangerous.... We should just legalize the real stuff. It is rediculous what people will try to get high with.

Good luck, SE wisco sukkkks balls. You can sell $350 to a store all day long if you make an appointment weeks in advance, but only 1 store. Pick one. If they catch you selling to a store within 100 miles they'll throw hissy fits.

I had a shop in Chicago tell me that they wont buy from glass blowers if they sell to any store around them. As I look around and see the same chameleon glass the other stores all sell. The same RooR tubes, the same import elephant pipes. Like wow way to go out of your way to hurt the local scene.

I have a store that does not want me to sell glass to any other store in the same town. That store is actually doing better than all the other stores. They sell imported china glass also and some indian glass, plus they also sell local glass. When all is said and done they pay me more money than any other shop. Plus the guy seems to be doing very well since he has every kind of glass pipe that people want to buy. I have no problem with only selling to the one guy.

I despise a head shop owner that tries to limit my funds. If he wants to limit me he should do it with his pocket book. Buy me out. If he is not buying all my product I still have money to make. Why would that shop owner want to keep me down? He or she is a selfish prick that cant compete without being a dick.
As far as the thread, the answer is to travel. Expand your customer base into to all of wisco, then take minnesota and illinois too. I couldnt make as much as I want without going to other cities, and sometimes other states. Also diversification is key. Force them to buy more than they want by putting multiple decorating styles and multiple different products.

I feel its a unreasonable thing to ask in the first place. I know they purchase glass from more than one glass blower and I don't get upset about that.

If you aren't selling enough, you need more/different clients. There are usually cycles for shops in certain areas. Having shops that sell well at different times of the year, or saving your stock and cleaning up at certain times of the year can help.

Isn't there a CHAMPS East show going on in Atlantic City right now? I was thinking that was why things were a little slow this week. I bet after the show people will order more glass.

ive been sitting on some glass over the last couple months, but luckily i have a 2nd part time job. but within the last week I sold 2400 in production. still have a bunch left but a good week. I figure if selling is slow its better to keep making production rather then sitting around worrying that none of its sold yet, at least you are doing something productive.

Good idea! Especially stock up on small stuff first. It costs me less money to produce and easier to store. It always sells eventually.

Yes, there is a lot of money to be made with these kinds of products, but how does it fit into the "For Tobacco Use Only" description?

another thing that pisses me off is one particular distributor inparticular seems to have no problem selling to each and every store in the area. Amerikan sweatshop glass and imported trash. So nice of our local shops lickin the importers balls and shitting all over the locals.
Have you tried Madison Dennis? That town has its own quirks but at least the shop owners get along, hell I've had shops up there say "hey that place across the street might want some of your stuff too" Cool town. Been years, but I doubt its changed much that way.

i love aussies description: paperclip holders and letter openers :)
I don't know wonka, I am to busy to mess with those items . But any time I have a day off I could work on that stuff.
I said that kinda in jest as even people who can't make a spoon can make and sell crappy dabs, figured someone with exp and no work could do well.

Sales are better than ever for me. I cant keep up with my orders even working very long weeks.
My tubes are sellin faster than i can make em and i have got a custom order every week for several in a row.
Dont count on one outlet or one product.
Learn to sell yourself and your work will move.
Convince the shop owner that they will regret not buying.
As for one shop only. I get it from there standpoint as its very tough to sell an exclusive stroker piece if they can get it anywhere else.
The big dogs will be in all the stores and for me that is a good thing.
Now i can show the custys a better product for a better price than biglabel glass and in turn move my work quite effectively.
Now if the demand is put on you and all they buy is a few hundred here and there. Then i say go fuck yourself.
Life cost a fortune and i wont be played by a shop owner. I have enough experience in sales to know when i am fighting a loosing batlle.

Tobacco use? Why would you want to use tobacco with a tea set?
This is a dish to put your teabag in once it's steeped enough, and this is a tea stirrer, for if you are the sort who takes cream or sugar.
Me too stroker I am super biz. But need some good shop help and can find none willing to put forth the effort I see required.
I.e waking up and at the shop by 6-7 am , willing to do things over and over tell there right before asking how to make a finished product. I could go on but you all know all about this stuff.

jr i have had 2 appentices in the past months and it has been less than appealing from my standpoint.
people are so fuckin lazy and even better is how much they assume they can do on a torch before ever lighting one.
its only a torch and some glass, how hard can it be to make headies>>??!!
im at the point where i really, really need help but damn i cant afford to take so much time from my own work to train and ultimately get rid of because they are never gonna aquire the proper skillset.
anyone want to move to knox to be my shop bitch?

I am hella busy right now as well, but I sell about half of my glass through a distributor.
I hear you guys about the apprentice situation. Not only can I not take the time to train someone, I can't stand to be around most "glassblowers" that I meet. I guess I'm just getting older. ...And I don't do dabs all day long and expect some work to get done.

A fucking tea set?! Now I want some cool dishes. My tea bag is sitting on an empty pack of cigs. I like using glass to be white trash classy. Sitting on my porch in my trailer chic outfit, yesterday skirt out pack on and pulled up like a staples dress, the glass tea bag holder would be perfect. Kind of like when I use my glass cig holder for lucky strikes.
Who wants to make me a dish with a canned ham trailer on the bottom?

Good shit Aymie, you make me laugh everytime I read your posts. I'll try a canned ham trailer for ya just to make you smile.
I havent been selling shit latly a lot of lowballs under 50% of what I get and the shops I do sell to are expanding so they aren't buying much from anyone. I mostly make worked hammers sherlys slides bubs dishes curves onie/jar sets ect...no 10$ items here.

^^ That's what it's been like in WA and OR for a long time. We're saturated with glassblowers up here so they can be choosy.
