OK fine! I'll post a few of the pics I have of the DFO 2012, which aren't many, so surely others will add on. I also had circumstance stop me from going by on sunday so I don't have pics of the finished pieces, sorry. Please someone post those ASAP.

In general I didn't snap anywhere near as many pics this year as usual, not sure why.....probably had something to do with the overflowing abundance of fantastic conversation to be had. All of the glass is so great, but to me still the best aspect of all is the people factor; it's so fun seeing all of the degenerates come out of the woodwork, and I tell you the glass knowledge courses through the whole group like a silver thread that ties together a thousand brilliant beads.

OK lets see....this is early friday when it's still pretty mellow; here we have demos with marble master Mike Gong (front), Eusheen (in purple), and Josh and Eli Mazet (Josh with hair tower):

A shot of the side alley area where TAG, Blast Shield, and more were set up (again, early friday, this area got quite jammed later):

Once again Cornerstone shows that they know what the hell they're doing with these events- street signs, nearby lots rented for parking, lots of other great organization- TOP RESPECT CORNERSTONE!!!!

More friday demos, Eusheen obviously feeling some power:

Sorry I didn't catch the names:

Lots of stunning glass art on display, this is Buck:

Crucibles locked and loaded:

Stage area outside, those who have been before will notice that C-stone managed to borrow some land space behind the building to HUGELY expand the back area into a full-on food court, this is how you do it in civilization:

Hcir Gnif (sp?) playing friday night, a FANTASTIC jam band that was the perfect accompaniment to Marcel and crew's flame show- a band of mostly glass cats including Stan Skipper (bass) and Josh Bonazza (git):
http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g59/JMLIB/IMG_4399.jpg

A tiny sampling of the numerous photography displays that were posted on any open surface, a great touch; I should have snapped some shots of the loads of fascinating Carlson shots that were up, but alas.....

Onward into the night with Marcel and crew's amazing boro gloryhole demo; these are just so much fun to watch, it's fire and sweat and cameras everywhere:

http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g59/JMLIB/IMG_4411.jpg

Mad filming as always:

http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g59/JMLIB/IMG_4430.jpg

Check this: these guys were flaming this stuff madly for hours, and then about midnight there was an onslought of rain! I had been inside reasoning and came out about 12:30 to find everybody sitting looking baffled and stunned, all surrounded by fire-spitting ovens and in the wild downpour! Apparently the rain shocked the glass too much and it shattered into a million bits, along with the minds of the audience. Fire, water, a billion bits.......no worries lads, that was great performance art!
http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g59/JMLIB/IMG_4433.jpg

Onto the saturday flameoff where I really started to slack off on the pics, that's Joe Peters and Chris Carlson.....

Hamm, mad genius, lots of fun guessing what that piece was going to be:

Hoobs, Jake C:

Later, onto the Marcel demo again saturday night, and they were successful this time:

http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g59/JMLIB/IMG_4492.jpg

That's where I'll have to end it folks....I know, not enough- add more, you out there! You know who you are!

Once again TOP VIBES to all the great people who remind me of why I look forward to this show every year; there's nothing like it.....it's the best glass party on earth IMO.

PEACE
JB

Great pics! I can't really see them since I'm out in the sun in Nevada or something (okay, there's a little porch thing - I'm emphasizing the hardship).

Here's my addition to the bandwidth bomb of this thread. More to come!

Pretty sure in the 2nd or 3rd Dune novel there was a weapon that burnt out people's eyes. Yeah, that was what Leto had his eyes burnt out with - a stone burner. So, here's Marcel's version.

The Friday Demo schedule! I managed to miss 95% of this, which is a sad story because they were all surely awesome.

I have oodles more to sift through, too so more are coming later from the Julian direction. Might as well add this tube of Penumbra odds that was gracing the TAG booth with it's unusual existance. Apparently, this is what happens when the new guy hits the tube pull with a torch...

Great shots, Chris. My favorite pieces: Robin Hoods bow and arrows, and Hamm's painted(?) masterpiece.

^^^ yes, that Hamm beyond words!!!

How/where does it function?

Edit: what a seriously genius approach to color on glass! I know it's been done before (took a de la Torre class long ago), truly like it!

Hamm's piece was way cool. Love the 50s 'atomic age' feel of the star. Yes, the pieces were painted - spray paint.

One of the blue ball (hehe) pieces, I'm pretty sure it's the one on the bottom shelf, is a functioning piece. Think it was a water/oil piece, and you can kinda see the yellow dome on it in chris' pic of it.

I'm glad my slinger back made it into the pictures, and Thank You! everyone who did take pictures. I was too lazy and left my camera in the car the whole time. We (wieseatron & I) had a great time and DFO made for an awesome first west coast road trip. Our biggest highlight was probably being invited out to Bob's place and chilling with him for a while, boy howdy does he crack me up!
