This is an old riddle changed to be a glass riddle...
There are 5 glass benches each one has a different type of torch. On each bench works a glass blower of a different personality. The 5 glass blowers each drive a certain type of vehicle, listen to a certain type of music, and use a certain brand of glass. No glass blowers use the same glass, listen to the same music, or drive the same vehicle.
The question is: Who uses Pyrex?
Hints:
- The Tweeker uses a Herbert Arnold torch
- The Scientist uses Asian tubing
- The Raver drives a bus
- The bench with the Bethlehem torch is to the left of the bench with the Carlisle
- The Bethlehems owner drives a van
- The blower who listens to metal uses Simax
- The owner of the GTT listens to Dubstep
- The blower on the center bench drives a car
- The Hippy works on the first bench
- The blower who listens to Reggae works next to the one who uses Schott
- The blower who uses Kimble works next to the blower listens to Dubstep
- The blower who listens to Jazz drives a scooter
- The Hermit listens to Rap
- The Hippy works next to the blower that uses a Nortel
- The blower who listens to Reggae works next to the blower that drives a truck
First one to post the correct answer wins.
Wins what? Who knows. You just win.
This is fun for you if you choose, so don't peek or cheat unless you give up.

My guess is The Hermit uses pyrex, listens to rap, drives a van and uses a Bethlem.
So, I drew out all the boxes - and got them about halfway full of dots and x's - before I realized this is totally going to make me late for dinner with my parents and siblings. Thanks a lot.
...I'll finish when I get back, if only for my own entertainment.

My best guess based on reading that entire thing and the clues, Is Doug is the one that uses the pyrex

They all use pyrex since they go in on palette sized orders to save money since glass blowers are always broke.
They all use different colored glass though as everyone's got an opinion of which is the better cobalt blue.

The clues do not mention Pyrex at all. There is no reason to believe that any of them use Pyrex.

well, that's fairly sound reasoning, except the riddle does mention it, explicitly.
It's not in the hints, but the hints aren't the riddle... there are 5 blowers, 4 types of glass mentioned in the hints, the missing 5th type is implied to be pyrex as is explicitly asked about in the riddle...
This is a logic puzzle, there's no trickery or gotcha answers - you could write a computer program to solve it, it requires no human specific creative thinking, just sheer mechanical logic.
tho I do get a laugh at some of the sillier answers.

Also, this is the old Einsteins Riddle, I simply substituted selected glass, torches, vehicles, personalities, and music for nationalities, tobacco, colors, pets, and drinks - I didn't put any effort into making the end results fit - i.e. the tweeker probably wouldn't have a HA, and the scientist probably wouldn't use asian glass... but whatever, don't over analyze it.

No, a logical conclusion cannot be made that any of them use Pyrex. You would have to state total list of glasses, or mention it again in the clues. It would be a leap to conclude that the remaining one uses Pyrex, given this information.

if you fill in what you do know and use some deductive reasoning you'll eventually fill in all the pieces, knowing that one does use pyrex

einstein believed that somewhere around 90 percent of the people on the planet could not figure out his riddle, however, it's very possible, just takes some thyme and patience..

What do you use the thyme for?? We have to make pizza sauce...? This is way out of my league.

We used to do these puzzles every day in 4th grade.
Anyway, this is what I'm asserting...
Since neither water nor a zebra is mentioned in the clues, there exists a reductive solution to the puzzle, namely that no one owns a zebra or drinks water. If, however, the questions are read as "Given that one resident drinks water, which is it?" and "Given that one resident owns a zebra, which is it?" then the puzzle becomes a non-trivial challenge to inferential logic.

ok, to restate / clarify the question:
There are 5 glass benches each one has a different type of torch. On each bench works a glass blower of a different personality. The 5 glass blowers each drive a certain type of vehicle, listen to a certain type of music, and use a certain brand of glass, one of which is Pyrex. No glass blowers use the same glass, listen to the same music, or drive the same vehicle.
The question is: Who uses Pyrex?

I still think they all use Pyrex.
In one case you said: "...use a certain brand of glass..."
While in the second reference you simply say "no glass blowers use the same glass" (minus a requirement of a reference to a brand). Since there's no question regarding the brand at that point, it can be read to simply refer to the actual glass they are using, regardless of the brand.
Since they're working at separate benches, they couldn't use the same glass if they wanted to.
It's a stretch to assume one of the torches isn't a hothead, but given we're here on a mostly boro-centric board, let's play fast and dirty and assume they're all torches capable of working boro.
