How goes it folks? Call me Derk please.
I'll keep it short, cuz that's what I do (no pun intended); I got my feet wet at Glass Monkey in Austin last summer- a joke of a studio, albeit a start. Since, I've had glass on the brain and just recently got my first studio set up. The spare bedroom in my apartment has two windows and works out perfectly. I was running a National 8m, up until yesterday. I pulled out the Barracuda to test out with my ex-15 oxycon and wow, what a difference. I feel hooked all over again.... Stay tuned for future posts and pics.

Thanks to everyone that plays here. Of all the forums I've seen so far, I like this one the most.

The Bench was built, well, not by me. I simply took my hand-me-down desk and put a 3/4" sheet of plywood over it and tacked two rolls of aluminum over that.
Took home the scrap wood and used a piece for the backsplash. It's approximately 7'L x 3'D x 3'H.
I got lucky with the room having two windows. The vent fan fits in the window perfectly. 1350cfm seems a bit like overkill, but I'd rather that than not enough.
Flooring may not be fire-proof, but it's better than carpet. That reminds me... move extinguisher from under kitchen sink to under work bench.
Soon to come: Piece of plywood at about the level of the light for better ventilation, base for the Barracuda, holding tank for the oxycon, kiln atop the nightstand, and a better stereo indeed.
