There are still five seats available in my networking class at Pratt Fine Arts in Seattle, 7/30 - 8/3. You still have one week to sign up! Don't miss this opportunity, especially if you live in the NW! PM me, or contact Pratt Fine Arts at Pratt.org. Here is a class description:

"This class will focus on the technique of networking to create free, open form sculpture with an emphasis on patterning. Students will learn to build and then modify the basic networked surface into more regular and controlled patterns including tessellation and imagery. Instruction will include demonstrations, presentations, lectures, group discussions, and hands-on assistance. All Levels."

Cool... I now realize I've heard this term on relation to the glass technique/style, but I wasn't sure initially whether this was about power lunch and Rolodexes or Ethernet and Token Ring.

Wish it was a week earlier and I had the money, cause I might be in seattle then. Should be a great class, hope you get those spaces filled in.

I really want to take this class. Will you be at AGI this year?

In case anyone is on the fence about this class, I just wanted to give my 2 cents. I took Robert's Networking class last summer at the Pittsburg Glass Center and it was great experience. It really opened my eyes to the possibilities of what you can make on the torch in a very "non traditional" manner. Everyone in the class (particularly some of the beginners) left the glass with very cool projects and saw positive results rather quickly. Robert is an awesome teacher and was an open book the whole class. He answered any question about any technique- beyond Networking... He pushed everyone to undertake exciting and challenging projects. I know that I personally left the class with a big jolt of inspiration and positive energy. So if your on the fence, just go for it- you will not regret it! -Matt

Thanks to all for your support. I am happy to report that the class now has enough students to run! There are still a couple of spaces left so, if you are still thinking about it, go for it! And if Seattle is too far away, I am teaching networking at the Chrysler Museum in Norfolk, VA in August and there are seats available in that class too!

Just thought I would share some photos of the projects made by my students at the Pittsburgh Glass Center Networking Class last week! This curriculum really brings out the best in people!

Alex was a total beginner. Never lit a torch in his life! Bernadette makes mostly beads and pendants. This was only her second experience networking. Nathan is the staff photographer at PGC. Very limited glass experience. Kim had dome some glass but this was her first time networking. Tommy was the one piper in the class with 12 years of experience. Now take a look at their work!

Still a couple of spaces in the Pratt class and at least 5 available at the Chrysler Museum class next month.

I just want to thank everyone for their support. Both classes now have enough students to run! I think there is still one space left in both classes so if you are still thinking about it...

I would love to take the class, but time is not on my side currently... However, my new studio is less than a mile from Pratt and I'd love to see you! We've got over 15,000 square feet to explore...

Hi Robert! It's Kim from the PGC class, I just happened to stumble upon this post and was thrilled to see my nautilus! It made it back to Cali in one piece :) I have totally fallen in love with this technique and will soon be working it out at home! Thank you so so much for this class, you are an amazing teacher! I have to echo the previous praise for this class, you will not regret it, worth every penny! Mmm now I'm in the mood for a spicy margarita.
