Hey there guys and gals

Sorry in advance if this question has already been asked but i couldnt think of anything besides "color" to search which i doubt would have yielded any results.

I was just wondering about stretching out my color a bit. What coloring technique do you guys feel is most economical as far as color goes. I have done frit (crushed my own), iso, w and r, and blow ins and I'm not sure which one eats the least color.

Any insight on this topic would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot and good luck to you all. :blowkiss:

Wrap and rake by far. A one inch short puntied up to a piece of 5mm and you've pretty much got all the color you need.

Fume dude. A chunk Of silver will get you pretty far.

I buy Norhtstar 2nds and a few select chinese colors to wrap n' rake. I usually throw a bit more color than most production guys and it really helps sell the pieces, and it's still cheaper than a lot of other methods. Another money saver (albeit a bit dangerous) is to rake with 3ml instead of 5ml or whatever.

I checked the other box.
That spoon we traded for is the least color option I can come up with,
If i remember right it has orange dots over silver fume,,Made on china clear it is my prodo type I sell for $99.99 a dozen, cant get no cheaper unless i can get the lynx to run on air,
Price will get you love, hang em on the big stuff.

Try old point handles. It's a use for what many consider trash, and it gives your rakes extra depth.

I use 3 mm to rake... dangerous because of the break and stab aspect? Or am I missing something?

And I would say fume of course. That being said, a tight W/R over silver fume looks pretty good and doesn't take much color.

Dry the scraps from your water can/jar and melt them together and alakazam you have new recycled w&r color.:D
Or grind for frit.

one or two lines of color twisted over 12mil rod. one spiraled line on an inside out + fume clear dots= nice prodo spoon with very little actual color but can actually look very vibrant

Check out the thread by GlassMax called " Oxyde and salt colouring explanations" Very cool effects and a little silver and copper goes along way. Also you get to understand the effects of flame chemistry and color.
