It's tough to get rid of. I would either cover it with a stripe of something opaque or do something along the lines of a color lip wrap on both sides of the seam while it's still open, then join the seam color-to-color. Haven't done this tech in a while, though.

use a tear rod and smear the edges downward and remove the scum.
pretty easy once you do it a few times

That's my advice to. I never touch my disk flips with shears, but if you do, that's creating you seam. I use a rod to clean the edges and I never get a seam. Have you ever skinned a rod for making a marble? It's a similar technique. Heat a tiny portion of the cut edge and swipe off the problem area with a cold punty. Keep going around, focusing on the high spots, until you have cleaned the entire rim.

Wait... are we talking about disc flips? I thought we were talking about something else. Namely, cutting down the length of the tube, turning it inside out, and re-sealing the seam. Sure, you can clean up the seam a bit, but you will pretty much always be able to see it in the color pattern. Anyway, that's what I was referring to.

I hadn't thought about that it a long time so it didn't even occur to me.

If that's the case, I assume you are right, there is no way to fix that. I would be tempted to frankenstein stitch the line.

when you flip it and taco it back together, roll it in a tiny bit more than you should so that you are very carefully only touching clear to clear.

In all my years I have never tried this. Think I should.
