Google Ads on TMP and donation perks.

I know there's been a lot of changes recently, but can you guys help me with one more? :devilish:

Normally when people kick in a donation here they get flamed and earn the following badge. :flamethro 41082

It's time to phase that one out, and put together more options for people who donate. So I need to know what you guys want most?

Some clever options:

Less google ads when logged in
No google ads when logged in
Bigger inbox
More picture room




I bet you guys have some ideas, too. :) We want to hear them!

I actually like the google ads. Every once in a while one pops up that I completely disagree with, so I click on it to make the site a cent or two, and cost the thing I disagree with a cent or two. It's my way of balancing the scales a bit.

I think more picture room would be the only thing that would eventually benefit some folks, I am on the internet so much i rarely notice ads anymore, however sometimes something comes up and catches my eye that I actually was planning on buying, and then I click the link to buy it.

Perhaps encouraging advanced members to donate a 20 dollar wholesale item and then the next 10 member donations of say $20 or more are put into a raffle for said item? That'd make it a little more interesting for new members, and possibly generate more interest in donations? Or maybe even have a section where folks can post their donation item and then get folks to donate to win that? There are probably a bunch of variations on this, probably restrictions as to what type of piece to make sure there are no legal issues, but if planned well that might work.

I kind of like the badge, it's nice. But maybe have it expire? Or better yet, have a new one each year with the year at the bottom of it (i.e. '12) that gets added to the stack. That way it shows what years folks donated. The way it is now, kick in money 8 years ago and the badge is still there today.

Having a stack of them shows who's been donating and has the effect of a little bit of peer pressure.

That's what I was thinking. I have one ready for '13 but wanted to get feedback on perks first. The old one won't have a date, might just say og. Not sure yet.

Anymore ideas on what perks you guys might want?

I like the yearly badge idea.

It was also kinda fun to see extra tools, etc being sold to benefit TMP as well as, or in lieu of, direct cash support.

I like the dated badge idea also. Since the glass collecting forums are just about dead and I'm not a fan of the glass pages on FB, I spend more & more of my time here and like the idea of supporting TMP.
