at the 2012 Glassroots Art Show and Flame-off



Hey all, we haven't done a fundraiser in so long! The online birthday parties are fun, but we thought we'd change things up a bit. We landed a booth at Glassroots in hopes of raising some funds for the forum and (the coolest part) meet a lot of you face to face.

So come on out to Glassroots Art Show (http://glassrootsartshow.com/) at the Monona Terrace in Madison, Wisco! Meet us, shake our hands, maybe have a beer with us if the timing is right. :chilling: Here's where you can help, even if you aren't attending the show.

We don't have a ton of notice to give you guys, barely a month! Those of you who want to donate and can squeeze us in before September 15th, one thing to keep in mind is this is largely a pipe show. If you have pendents or marbles to contribute we certainly appreciate the generosity and think they'll go over well at the show, too.


If you would like to kick down some glass to support the forum here are the details:

Don't forget to include your forum name along with you work. a business card or other printed slip of info will help to identify the work onthe table and hopefully guide buyers your way! If all goes well yes, I'll be there. Here's the thing...I've been really sick and puking since the beginning of July. Turns out it's probably my gallbladder but we just discovered this part yesterday. If it is, I have to have surgery to remove it. But I should heal in time from what I've heard so far. Cross your fingers for me, I would love a Seth hug!! :D

You got it Dave. That makes much more sense anyway, and saves you shipping and packing.

Jes, choose what you'd like to put in. It will be displayed along with your card, so it also get the donating artists some extra advertising as well. In your case, I would write your booth number on the back so we can send more people over to you if they like what they see.

That's for sure cool, I'll try to get pics of everything up in this thread after.

A beginner glassblower shyly asked me in conversation the other day, if "janky" beginner work was ok to donate...man you guys, of course! If anyone else out there is having that same thought think about that feeling you get a few seconds before you open the kiln and how it bubbles up and over right as you lift up the door. this is kinda like the feeling people get when they see a glass piece they not only like, but can afford. janky glass is very rarely really janky, and beginner glass is just that and where each of us has come from. Not everyone sees those flaws that might drive me and you crazy and even more commonly seen in my glass past, is people LIKE those flaws and think we did it on purpose.

So rest assured, if you can make a functional pipe, someone is going to like it and best thing for them is it will be more affordable then the bub it's sitting next to. Down the road when you beginners are making bubs and come across someone that has one of your old "janky" pieces, you're going to get that feeling again when s/he tells you how excited they were to buy that piece. ;)

Awesome. Its like Christmas morning every time I open up that PO box (well, a Christmas morning where you can't play with the toys under the tree, and you have to sell them all by new years day), but it's fun nonetheless.

These are shirts that we're going to release at Glassroots. They're printed on Port & Company 6.1 oz blanks, from Small up to 2X. I've included a sizing chart, though I've blurred everything beyond 2X, as we won't be carrying those sizes.

Hey guys! We're back from the show, and we had a ton of good come from it. :D

You all kicked down some gorgeous glass! We were all impressed. :) And more so, overwhelmed by the generosity of the community. You guys are the best! :blowkiss:



Sales were a tad slow this year so what we have left we will be throwing an online party with. I have to wait for Icky to ship back everything when he recovers, and I'll get photos and go from there. If anyone wants to help run a game or contest for the party please hit me up privately. You know how much fun these can be if you've been to one, if you haven't search for one of the old live birthday party threads and check them out. :party:



We also have shirts left and are taking orders for them online now. You can post here and let me know if you want them, PM me, or just simply paypal eugenerain@gmail.com with the size, quantity and shipping addy. They are $20 for s-xl and $22 for xxl, $2.50 for shipping/paypal.



There was a very sneaky sneak peek to the next shirt line Icky has branded as "Confessionals" which you guys will also want to keep an eye out for, once this limited line is sold out. We have approx 50 left of the "Don't set yourself on fire" line.



We have stickers for the sticker exchange now, too! :D I'll get with Icky on that when things settle down and we'll start a new thread. I'll toss them in with shirts as well. ;)
