So I have this 18 inch skinny series illadelph that has the joint broken off. I'm wondering the best way to fix this. my kiln is only 12 inches across but I've got a big enough punty door to slide the base in. my question is can I heat up just half of the tube and do the repair annealing just the half I got hot and use the other end to hold/puff. is this legit? I don't want it to crack at the mid point where I'm not heating. how would you guys go about repairing this? thanks mp

u can fix it like that and anneal it so the fix is stress free. But then u are going to want to get it the whole tube in a big kiln and anneal it again.

Ya it can be done like said tho if you can get it to a bigger kiln to anneal it better.

pack some pyroblanket around the piece and the punty door and you should be all good. Finding a bigger kiln to do a full anneal sometime soon wold be ideal just to be extra safe with your expensive piece of tubing.
