Hey guys. So I found a copy of contemporary lampworking second edition for 20$. I know their is a third edition but would this one do for now and as a study guide till I buy volume 3 set. I ask because I feel $20 is to good to pass up. Thanks guys.

I do see it came out in 1997 so I know some stuff will be outdated.

The nice thing is, this isn't like computers. Glass still works the same way as it did 15 years ago. There's just been a bunch of technical advances in the industry. But yes, the information in there is definitely worth more to you than the $20 they're asking for it. Do it!

I think the only thing that is outdated in that edition is how to turn off a torch. He changes it in the third edition, saying to turn off the fuel first.

Unless you already have some experience and know basic shaping techs, you would be best off reading volume 1 first. I don't know if the newer editions have both in one book but my set is 2 books. Lots of awesome info and tips/tricks for the beginner

I think the first and second edition was just one book. I think it was in the third edition that it was split across multiple books.
