Ok so I've got a piece in mind and id like to get some input on how to make an elongated disk bubble. like sometimes you see them as mouth pieces where it is like a tear drop shape but I'm looking to make it and oval. I know how to spin a disk, what I'm wondering is how to go about elongating it. should I take a finished disk with a blowtube hooked to the side and punty to the opposite side, heat the middle and pull? Or just heat and let gravity droop it? Just trying to get a better idea of how to do it before I go for it, let me know what you all do to get this shape or any pointers you have, thanks tmp . ill look for a pic to post to help with what I'm describing

its not that hard. punty up and stretch one how you like it.

You can stretch it like said ^ then reblow the ends to make them ( ) again instead of < > . Good luck.

ive found it easer not to distort your disc pattern by heating in a bushier flame and letting gravity drop it out most the way, then punty and do a final tug to get it nice and crisp.

i find for making tubular sections sometimes that technique is useful too.

even heat base is key here, your doing the right thing with the blow tube/pontil. gravity will put more glass and weight on one side making it uneven, Even to the smallest degree. So keep it horizontal and slightly pull with a even heat base. If you want somewhat squared sides to your oval, marver the pulled sides slightly and puff a little.

Also, make sure your punty is the same diameter as your blowtube, this way you can work the heat in from end to end without your punty flopping around on you.
