Is that who made that? I couldn't find a name. Good job getting noticed, Kravin!

I think it is from a guy by the name of Joe in Eau Claire Wisconsin. My buddy reps for him and is running that etsy account. Joe puts out some really nice work.

Ok, so I'm way in the dark on this. Why is that $1000? Maybe I'm not looking at the right pic? There is one that looks damn similar to that in my local head shop for like $150. If people are getting $1000 for those I'm gonna start cranking them out.

Oh, lolz. Good luck "crankin those out". He is not getting $1000 for that piece either. That is what a glass pimp is charging for it at the retail level.

C'mon Rogue, there's nothing wrong with being a noob. Why pretend you're better than you are? Not trying to be a dick or anything, but it's going to be a long time before you'll be able to make something like this. Your comment is a bit of an insult to the blowers who have spent many years and thousands of hours behind the torch to get to this kind of skill level.

I hope I am not outta line saying this but I think it is awesome when I see glass getting a high price. Maybe more people will start saying 'Oh, its glass' instead of 'Oh, it's JUST glass'

Wow, that is really a cool website. I'll have to look around and see if I can find any Xmas gifts on there.

I wasn't a bit surprised by the price, in fact 1k sounds closer to fact than $600. Things are "worth" exactly what someone is willing to pay for them and right now glass art seems to be doing well. Big diff between making a premium piece and "cranking stuff out" IMHO

You really don't think you could get that down to a two a day piece or more? I'm not saying anything is wrong with it. It's beautiful. I can't do one now, but if I could and I could sell them for that much I would crank them out.

I'm not mad or any other negative adjective, that he's trying to sell it for any retail price. I hope he gets $1000, I just can't believe it's going for that much.

Certainly not an insult, and it shouldn't be considered that. I'm shocked by prices on all kinds of things... THAT I BUY lol. I was looking at it more like this...

OMG!!!! $2.5 million dollars for that Lamborghini!? It's a beautiful car and well worth it to those who can afford it I'm sure. I'm just shocked by the sticker price lol

Please don't take offense to my comment, I was simple stating how this smiley looks :twitch:

And yes Bo lol you're right, it will be a while before I'm at that level and that's not you being a dick.

Yeah, yeah, I get it, ya guys busted my balls lol

I truely wasn't trying to take away from the art. I was just making not well thought out comment. I was just trying to say if somebody was making $1000 for a piece(I should have said,"it would be nice to be able to crank those out") but I just inserted my foot in my mouth before thinking.

Sorry for offending anybody reading what I wrote and especially the artist of the octopus

Hey Rouge;

Really sound like a path you might like??

I was always amazed at the bucks Frable Glass Art (http://www.frabel.com/) in Atlanta, GA gets for clear glass sculptures. Based on the sea life theme I found a Starfish (no longer sold directly on Frabels website but denoted as vendor in description) : Starfish (http://www.crystal-fox.com/index.cfm/sea_star_starfish_glass_sculpture_special_order_78 6.htm).

These always looked so simple and sold for a mere $300.00( yes I see they are now only $250.00).

Bust em out as a prelude to the puss's ..............

Anyway if you like the sculptural side their is plenty of eye candy both in the gallery and the store of Frabels site.

Wow! That stuff is amazing. It's pretty big too. I saw RAM sculpting at ZEN in St Petersburg not too long ago and am absolutely amazed at the craftsmanship. Since I live in Florida and in a major tourist spot anything "sea life" sells pretty well.

Thanks for the link.

I wish I could shut it off at work lol.

In my defense I have been on the torch since 8 this morning and I made three 1 1/2" marbles and two 1" I was coming to look up how long to leave a piece in the kiln to kiln strike it ;-)

Striking isn't about length of time as much as it's about varying temperatures. Bounce back and forth from 800 to 1150 in 30-45 minute segments.
