Hey everyone, I just want to start out this post by saying that I'm not trying to be difficult or to bad mouth Unlimited Oxygen (or Jack), I'm just a little frustrated.
The story is that 3 weeks ago on this day, I called up Unlimited Oxygen and (not expecting that they would be able to do this) asked if they could get an M-15 to me in two weeks. To my surprise, they said they could do it. I really needed the concentrator by today, so I left a little buffer time for unexpected delays or long shipping. I called back last week to make sure it had shipped, and they said they had just finished a big order and that mine wasn't ready yet. A little vexed, I left them alone.
I called back again at the end of last week and I was told that it should ship out monday or tuesday of this week. However, I didn't receive a shipping invoice and called today, only to hear that it wasn't even finished yet and they couldn't promise me a day that it would ship.
I know some of this is not their fault, because I've been told that they are waiting on a specific component, but they definitely had some concentrators finished in the last couple of weeks that could have gone to me (I was told there was another rush order that they absolutely needed to get to).
I'm trying not to be whiny, but if I knew that it would have taken this long I wouldn't have bought one from them in the first place. Because of this delay, I was forced to buy another fill for my tank, costing me 50$ (I know, expensive where I live). My final question is: is it reasonable and/or appropriate to ask unlimited oxygen for a discount on the concentrator? It sounds absurd, I know, but they are far beyond the date they had promised to me and I lost the ability to work today as well as 50$ towards the tank.
EDIT: They just started a sale on M15s for the month of december, is it fair to ask for the sale price?
Thanks,
-Max

You could cancel and re order. But then imagine how backed up there gonna be after the sale.
I would totally ask for the sale price.
however...
This is not new if you have ordered from GTT direct ever.
Currently i am a couple weeks past due for a glass hive kiln that i already paid for as well (they've told me next week it will be shipped for the past 3 weeks)
But iv heard unlimited oxygen takes a while to get to everyone, but dont have any personal experience. Sorry to hear about having a bad experience like this, however im right there with you...its kind of hard to gauge when enough is really enough.
personally i dont care about waiting times or anything, i just hate that no one in any of these businesses ever acknowledges the fact that they passed the ETA that they have given or even that it took longer then expected.

When the wait time was 3-4 weeks even just a few months ago, it took me 8 weeks to get mine.
Jack is usually pretty understanding and if you go about asking in a respectful manner, i'm sure you'll have better results.

Jack's a really great guy, very accommodating. If they just put everything on sale, I'd bet he'll be willing to give you the sale price.
It sucks you had to get another fill - but hang in there, once you get your concentrator you'll be done with that business! I use three concentrators from UO and it is unbelievable how much $$ I save on oxy. I'd otherwise be paying the same per fill as you.
I'll be honest with you - I might very well have been the rush order that they had to fill. I probably called a week before you with some very bizarre circumstances. So blame me man!
I get the impression that he's doing the best he can over there, and that goes a long way in my books.

jack and u/o are notorious for taking 3 months to ship oxycons, many threads about that on LE.
that being said, he offers great units at great prices, so it's no surprise that he's backed up on orders (he keeps his staff small to keep his prices in line, which in turn causes these delays).
there are other places to get them (abr imagery had them on scratch/dent sale @ $400 shipped) almost as cheap.
i've got two ex15's and a mini15 (both ex15's from abr, the mini was a gift from jack in exchange for a review over on LE), and i'm considering selling one of the ex15's (i bought a homefill and only use one of them) as i'm broke.
idk if this is against forum rules, but if your interested pm me...i'm pretty sure we're not too far away from each other.

Yeah I don't blame him for the delay, just for not anticipating it. I think sadly I'll have to decline your offer though, I've already taken up too much of jack's time to back out now.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I think everyone should be warned about this guy. DO NOT USE UNLIMITED OXYGEN. I ordered 3 hurricanes in mid April 2013, bought and paid for through paypal. After many phone calls, and excuses I received one unit. ONE unit of three in OCTOBER... and had to pay an additional $200 in shipping to get it on top of the purchase price....and i guarantee you the unit didn't cost even half of that to ship. One unit won't run my torch, so I'm stuck with a unit collecting dust. I tried to start a dispute through paypal, but unfortunately due to Jack's quoted build time and the months of excuses I bought into, I am long beyond the 45 day from purchase time limit that paypal has....oh, and Jack specifically said at the time of purchase that I should use paypal in case i needed "the extra security"...BS, he knew about the 45 day limit I'm guessing and "guided" me towards that option with exactly this situation in mind. Last word from him was "you will have two tracking numbers by Friday"....and that is literally about the fifth or sixth time I have heard those exact words....and paypal has just closed my dispute and will not reopen due to the time limit being surpassed about five months ago.
Anyways I am basically pretty sure I am in the middle of being well scammed out of $1600-$1700 by this guy, and hope anyone else who is considering doing business with Unlimited Oxygen thinks twice. No Bueno. Even if I get them, do I want to rely on this guy for parts?!?
I'm seriously considering a homefill setup after this fiasco.

Very good product, not so good customer service interaction. I was promised 2 weeks and, and took 2 months. I was very pissed also, but hope the warranty will make me less upset about it in the end. In comparison, I have had glassblowers take 6 months for custom orders before I was a glassblower, so small shops with custom products just take time sometimes.
Whatever you do though, do not stake your business on the timelines jack gives you. Or you might have to go get a temporary job like i did...
Also in retrospect a family member who owns a multi-million dollar business said the reason the interaction went south was I gave him all the money up front, NEVER do that. Only do half up front, half on delivery it gives small shops incentive to finish your order, becuase think about it, if another customer comes through and offers you money, youll have to take it and split the time between both customers

Its just a horrible way to do business. A quote is supposed to mean something. If you say two weeks do two weeks and if its gonna take two months say two months. After reading this thread I would never order these units from this guy. I understand he is trying to win by taking orders for many units, but in his winning somebody else is losing because he is basically lying about how long it will take to get one. At a larger company it could be blamed on different departments not being in communication, but with a small operation there is no excuse for the order taker to not know how long it will take to get a unit out. After first call the Boss would know for sures! A small business absolutely does not have to be a shitty one.
I dont think these units cost enough to normally have to worry about paying up front or holding cash back. Do you think unlimited oxygen is aware how much concentrator talk there is on tmp? Bad reviews are horrible business.

I honestly don't think he cares how much concentrator talk goes on here and on LE. He's got so many negative threads and comments about him if he hasn't given up already he should. My experiance with jack and his company was the worst I've ever dealt with in an attempt to purchase a product.

I ordered and PAID for a machine and have NEVER EVER RECEIVED IT. We were SO GRACIOUS and patient, too. I sent multiple emails with our receipt attached, and for awhile received encouraging emails back, saying to give them just a little more time. Then, after not receiving it for a couple more months, I contacted again with the receipt. Again, received a reply that our machine was finally built and just needed to be shipped. NADA. NOTHING. We are still waiting!!! I am so disappointed, because this is money I badly need, even though I have almost given up that these people will ever refund my money or send the machine. I went back to check their website and now it is down, too. This sucks SO BADLY!!!!!!

If anyone can help me and knows how to talk to this business, please let me know. Thanks!

The guy's folded. Originally he was using one customer's payment to fund another customer's order (he admitted as much).
I'd tell you to find others, a lawyer and go after him as a group, but I honestly don't think you're going to get much even if you succeed.

So sad. I need the money so much, too. I honestly thought I would still see the machine and was giving them plenty of time. I am heart broken to have learned all of this today.

kaysette I am so sorry this happened to you. I wish there were some way to warn people about these things besides threads buried on forums. You have my sympathy regarding the loss of funds. It is so painful to suffer a setback in the pursuit of the dream of melting!
If I were in your shoes, I would not completely give up seeking a resolution. I got one of his m20 from CraigsList and it does work well, so at least the actual units are okay even though his business practices are reportedly the worst. There are other threads on this forum where people discuss their bad experiences with Unlimited Oxygen. Maybe you all can pull together and find some way to get your money back or get some oxygen units, if they even exist. Good luck and welcome to The Melting Pot!
