Hi all- I'm under deadline right now and in a jam, hoping you can help. I need full color tubing with no clear encasements, and the best way for my application (and using borostix) is doing a stick stack and just melting it all in instead of sleeving or rod encasing. I basically just rage it, light puff, melt, puff until it's smooth tubing.

The trouble is i'm getting lines of haze where each color rod comes together with the next that won't melt out (devitrification?). It's driving me crazy.

This kind of makes sense, because theres a weird zone in that crevice that's getting incomplete heats and temps . . . but I remember doing this long ago with no problems.

I'm using borostix white, but I've tried with a couple other stable colors (alchemy, northstar) and am getting the same result. Anyone know whats going on???

Thank you!

so are you hose clamping your color in place if its not inbetween two tubes?

why do yo need it un-encased?

Id say youd have better reults drawing each line on..

Maybe you are raging it a little to hard on the white? I like to take my time with that stuff. I have been loving and using GA star white, but borosticks are cool and I think that the asian white rod is pretty bomb now, too.

Dirty color was my thought, especially when it happens with boro stix since they have a side covered in kiln dust.

Post a picture of the problem.

I have the same thought as Amy on this one. Maybe the borostix are dirty on the edges?

So is it easier to stick the rods to the outside(using a hose clamp)/(or basically sticking the rods to the outside) and encase? or stick the rods on the inside and slide a rod inbetween for case? just wondering Please and thankyou

Use parramore white and just draw the lines on.
