Not sure if anyone has done this successfully since last time I mentioned this (hopefully) helpful tip.

I just did it again today so its fresh in my mind.
Occasionally you can find cheap tanks at garage sales or Craigslist. And if you have a small time oxy dealer, ask him if he would give you credit on your account for tanks you supply.

Yesterday I bought a welding cart with large oxy/acet tanks on it. $75 - was a good deal. Brought the tanks to my oxy guy and got hundreds in credit on my oxy bill. Hope others here can find similar success. #hustlin'

P. s. Love, uncle Maestro xoxoxo

Haha.

Hope I'm not telling the kids to do something unscrupulous.

What's up?

There are still broke glassblowers right? We're not ALL dab-star millionaires... Yet. Couple hundred bux in a few hours. Worth a shot?

It has inspired me. I have a few argon and acety cylinders that I do not use. Going to contact my supplier on Monday and see if they will hook it up. Thanks for the idea

I tired to bring in a oxygen tank that i got for free to Airgas, but they would not take it because it did not have their stickers on it. I was also told that most gas companys do not sell oxygen tanks above 200cf and i should try to find where the tank came from and return it. It funny though, because the name on the collar of the tank i brought in matched the name of the other Airgas tank that i am renting. When i told them that. They had no answer.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm thinking the best chance for success is a small oxy dealer. Larger the chain, the more beauracracy you'd have to deal with. I talk directly to a business owner who is still out there rolling tanks.

Quad man the lie our National Air Gas dealer tells is they can not have tanks from competitors in their possession. The RICO act prohibits large companies from making money using another companies equipment .................

Ask your rep what companies they now service, many small companies have been bought out by the 2 largest National Air Gas and Praxair ................

hmm, you could say that about any company.

but those corporate pigs are slinging me oxy for damn near half what i was paying at industrial source.

Their tanks are brand new, dont vent off till 350 psi, dont really build pressure without the pressure builder on,( less chance of venting off, never a problem with pressure when working once the builder is on),

they do daily rates for tank rentals ( would have to pay a whole month of industrial source if we had it for *one* day in a month)

and they dont charge me for empty pick ups.

So uh yeah, those corporate pigs are down as fuck in my book.

Like any other business it's all in who you know ...................

Was talking to one of the blowers down here, he claims his buddy knew some VP of the corporation or something equivalent to that.
Any way they are "grandfathered in" on "K" tanks for $9 .......................
I have no idea about their rental cost but can not be much ........................

I just opened my account yesterday a Matheson(sp) for $9.50. No rental fee though because I own my tanks.

Yeah I think the east coast has a glut of Oxy, not enough glass heads on this coast................ good thing!!
My Southern rep called and offered liquid for an insane price the other day.
He keeps telling me they have more than they can sell .................
Must be a really bad problem to have ..................

Now if only I could figure a way to fill up empty propane tanks like when we needed anhydrous ammonia .......................j/k
