Does anyone recycle clear

Ya so I was wondering for stuff like blowtubes and punty rods that eventually become too short that I have a big ole bin of this stuff and think it shouldn't go to waste. I get a little wasteful with this kind of stock and although you can weld lengths back together to get more use out of them I do not find it time effective and clear is fairly inexpensive.

I take like 7ml shorts and keep them aside to pull stringers with but they add up faster than my need for them. Eventually everything turns into a little 3-5" nub of glass that I find too small to be of use.

I know you can make clear frit but I dont have much use for it nor would I want to take the risk of the process.

Rather than sending dirty clear scrap to the dump do any manufacturers have any use to get this stuff back? What if we all recycled our clear shorts somehow could they be worth more than the cost of outshipping? Just something I was thinking about.

I think just about every glass blower I've met this discussion has come up. Everybody wants to do something with it beside throwing it away. My friend said he is saving his and melting it into bricks in a boro crucible somewhere in Fl. so he can use them as a wall in his shop.

with my scrap 5mm rods i'll weld them together with the premix to save oxy, then just use them for tearing or raking. 8mm scrap i'll use for cane making. scrap points that have a bunch of fume left in them sometimes can make nice pendants or iso beads.
i'll usually set aside a couple hours a week to use as much of my scrap as i can.

i know someone who doesn't buy 3mm or 5mm....he'll just use the skinny pulled points as punties, bridges etc.

I weld all my 3"-4" 5mm rod together and use the clear to cover sensitive colors like the crayolas and white. I like the idea to save them up for the day I come across a crucible. I would like to make my tombstone made out of glass with all my keeper marbs in the clear block like Paul Stankard made. Then when a person who doesn't know me walks through the graveyard, they'll be like "Damn, this guy a baller!"

i try and weld the usable clear rods together and use them for wiping and to stick my balls on. but the stuff in the water jar goes in a water bucket and then to the trash
