good read...I thought the exsibit was coming to sf moma, but it was years ago...think about how much more is trademarked and copyrighted by now...EVERYTHING is a registered trademark- I mean companies are just trademarking word's now...It's so wrong, what give a company the right to own a word or phrase?! I mean its really mind boggling. And I hate it- its just corporations tryin to control everything and everyone.
I know this in not about glass, so maybe it should be moved- but i do think its relevant.
thanks panda!

Definitely a good read. The real problem isn't that "much more" has been copyrighted since then, it's that much less has been because these corporations are holding on to current or "future" innovations to milk every cent they can from past innovations. It is a pay-to-play system and the majors are knocking out the minors every chance they get. These majors communicate heavily to schedule their decade-old innovations premiere every three years in Fall for Christmas shopping. The investor has much more power in our society than the inventor because of all the past investments that these bean-counters think should last our society a century so we get Furbies and iPads instead of the space exploration, robots and watch-size super computers the people of the 50's knew we should have by 2010.

^this is correct. A prominent name still fighting for creative commons Lawrence Lessig has a plethora of information regarding this copyright and pretty much wrote the book.

Still not sure how I feel about Mr. Brainwash...

If you do research beyond the film, he ends up coming off as a bit of a douchebag and a bullshitter. No one really wants to work with him anymore, and it's possible Banksy helped make the film as another layer of commentary on the modern art scene.

(It's Exit Through the Gift Shop (http://movies.netflix.com/WiMovie/Exit_Through_the_Gift_Shop/70132200), btw)

Let's parallel MBW to the glass scene.

Dude starts hanging out at pipe shops. Watches a bunch of successful artists pump out dope work.

Dude hires a bunch of decent benchworkers to factory-line out work that looks just like the aforementioned successful artists work.

Dude puts his name on all the glass and talks about the process of making them as if he actually did the work.

Dude gets paid.

This isn't specifically about glass, but but I feel any artist should be able to express themselves pretty much how ever they want. Isn't that the idea of true art, is to evoke a reaction. good or bad... Personally as I am inspired, I will work with the things i think about .... If you aren't misrepresenting someone elses product as your own, i will do as i wish. A good example of illegal art was in the tattoo shop i used to go to.. There was a 20x30 canvas of Satan fucking Mickey Mouse in the ass. It was really well done , and honestly Mickey took it like a champ..... So I do not believe Disney will be releasing this canvas for prints. I believe this dude or woman that made this painting had everything right to, and i am grateful people push limits.

You forgot the part where he tries to make a movie about Slinger, but it's such an unwatchable mess that Slinger makes a movie about him instead.
