The Dust-Collecter Collab Thread

Ok so I had an idea. Every single studio I've ever been in has had pieces and parts and sections on their bench. You know the stuff I'm talking about. The part that didn't end up going on that piece. The section that pissed you off and had to be set down for a rainy day. The random pieces we all collect to the sides of our bench

I think we should post pictures of some of our dust-collectors! We can look at all the pictures and see if anyone's pieces will go together well. Then you guys can PM and work out a mail collab using those pieces, and post the results here!

That way we can do a whole bunch of web collabs! Plus, then you can sell the piece and kick back say 10% to the forum.

Post up your own dust-collectors! I bet we can put together a bunch of cool collabs!


These are the pieces I'll start it with. The aqua and yellow guy is agua azul [I believe. It may be carribean blue but i'm 99% sure it's agua azul.] and yellow crayon frit. I reversed a section of it and cut it into 2 sections. The guy didn't like the texture of the frit so I abandoned it and did something else instead. Those guys are good to go. Smooth inner wall. The big solid chunk is the front piece of that reptillian section. I did a reptillian pattern on like 38 standard or something instead of the 25 heavy I usually use. It got crazy wonky on me. I tore the front off and imploded it on itself and thought it looked pretty cool. It ended up this big ass chunk. The hollow section is super weird. Crazy wall thickness.

I have forced myself to keep my bench clean. Otherwise I get lazy and let shit pile up.

I got some interesting ones. What you want to trade? Usually when i mail colabs I make enough sections for two pieces, then the person makes two of the same pieces and we both get one. Or vise versa.

I'll get some pic's of my dust collectors when I get out to the shop tomorrow. Some of them are really good sections and discs. I even have one that you left here quinn I need to put in on something.

How about a melting pot collab. We could put as many people's sections together as we can get. Make the ugliest thing ever. As long as it had a male joint it will sell for a crazy amount.

That could come out of this thread. My goal is to make it open-ended. I'm not starting this thread with a specific project in mind. More like a place for us to all post pictures of what we have and then figure out what we could put together to make something cool. Not one item. Bunches of items.
