More than likely a phishing scam. I wouldn't worry too much, especially if you haven't ever used paypal. I get text message scams saying you won this or that, and have gotten something from my bank saying my acct had been compromised, and I immediately called the bank before opening the message and of course it was nonsense. Paypal messages should have an automated response system that regulates automatically generated error messages and the like.

They've been Sir Spam A Lot lately. I've been getting all kinds of screwy PayPal emails lately.

yeah, I got some email from them recently, opened it, never read it, deleted it. Then a few days later I get an apology email for an "erroneous email" yadda yadda. Never check paypal emails, go straight to the site if you have any concerns. I almost got nailed with a phishing scam once. Got an email from "paypal", said I had to verify my account because of suspicious activity....stoopid me clicked the link on the email which took me to a fake paypal site. I was just about to put in my numbers when I noticed the URL was spelled Paypai....easy to miss. Moral of the story is, ignore any and all emails from paypal, if you have any reason to even think about paypal, manually go to their site, in fact thats one address where I don't even trust my bookmarks, I type out the address every time.

Time saving tip:
when entering a URL in your browser, type out site name (paypal for example) then simply hit Ctrl+enter and it will fill in .com for you :)
