As the title explains. If there are others that are good for that price range please let me know. Going to drop the money soon.

- Concerns about the bobcatt are the knobs slipping and carbon build up from what i read.

Carbon build up is a concern for any torch. Just make sure that you are running a neutral flame for your main flame. As for the knobs slipping, I'm not sure I know what you're talking about. The break-in period? If so, that was temporary and really isn't a problem with the newer ones.

thanks for the info. Bobcatt it is, Everything i have read as of lately shows concern for the knobs having some sort of slip but i haven't particularly been looking at the dates. I also checked out the National 8m with SM- 21 tip and the SM- 7 tip Would this be a substantial upgrade for the 50-70 dollars or should i just stick with the gtt bobcatt.

I will be using this for pipes and pendants. Its and intro torch.

Just my 2 cents, but the national with sm21 is a oxy hog for the heat base you get. The gtt would be the better choice IMO unless you can get the national used because the sm21 tip is 100 bucks by itself. And it has no small flame. Changing out tips when hot is no bueno.

Enjoy it all in good health and be sure to read through as much here as you can. The search engine is pretty helpful. It's in the top right hand corner of the page (field with magnifying glass).

You might want to get some vermiculite or a fiber blanket to cool your practice stuff in until you can anneal it with a kiln.

The annealing bubbles that Malcolm carries are the shiz!! Way better than vermiculite or fiber blanket. http://artcoinc.com/annealing_bubbles.php
