Hey guys,

After months of working out a deal with Gentec, I have finalized a deal to become the distributor for their products in the glass industry. What this means is I will be offering their products at the absolute lowest prices for people in the glass industry. I have just received my first shipment of Compact torches, Small torches and other accessories.

The Small torch is their version of the Smith Little torch, and all Smith tips fit on this handle. It comes with 5 tips, 12' hoses, and has a chrome plated brass body with stainless steel gas tubes. I can do The Small Torch for $110 + shipping, the best price you will be able to find on this item.

The Compact Torch has the same handle but a slightly different collar that fits larger tips on it. It provides more gas flow because the tips on them are a larger diameter. The tips are also longer which is nice. They use a double o-ring configuration instead of a compression fitting for better leak proof protection. This thing is not a toy. It comes with 4 tips: #4, #6, a 4 hole (which is awesome for a little more firepower), and a twin tip. It also has 12' hoses and a chrome plated brass body with stainless steel gas tubes. I personally love this torch. I can do this torch for $155 + shipping, which is also the best price you will see on this really hard to find torch.

Here is a side by side comparison of the two torches with tips:

I will be offering other Gentec items as well, (regulators, quick connects, flashback arrestors, gas savers, etc.) but the limited stock I ordered of these items with this first shipment is already gone. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the Gentec product line. Wholesale orders are welcome, please contact me if you are interested in selling these products in your store.

I am waiting on my Vendor's badge then I will be posting these threads in the appropriate section, thanks for looking!

Yes, the tip holes are very similar if not the same in size. The Compact however can throw out a much larger more stable flame than The Small torch, while still going down to a micro size. I am pretty sure this is because more gas can pass through the larger diameter shaft of The Compact's tip.

I will throw some flame shots up of it as soon as possible. (Either tonight or tomorrow morning)

These are American made?

Gentec's HQ is in Chino, CA where they do their R&D and design. They have their products made in China so they can use the best materials while keeping their prices as competitive as they are.

All you need is a lighter and a dream Rogue... Really though, all you need to do is y into your existing set up and your ready to go.

I usually ship these the same day they are ordered, next business day at the latest if ordered late in the day.

I was wondering the same thing mike, as I was looking at these I thought do I run it at the same pressure as I run my lynx (20 oxy - 5 pro). I'm don't have any experience with these hand torches but now that I'm doing more and more welds I could definitely see the benefit of having one.

I run my gentec compact with a #4 tip drilled out to 1/16 at 15 psi propane and 65-70 psi o2 without any flame blow out. I can post a range of flame pics if needed.

Do they make a triple? I have a Y with 2 torches on it already. Maybe I just need a lil 20 or 60 O2 tank.

Oh really? They run the same pressures?

The recommended pressures is lower than we run at the bench, but they work fine off a y. Most of the people I know run their micros off a y.

Slap another y on one of the outlets of your first y and you got a threesome.

I have seen one of these in action after Vertigo gave advice about it, rager flame and literally impossible to blow out.

Sounds great man, I'll definitely be picking one up sooner now. I honestly thought you had to have an entirely independent system running a compact.

I run my CC at 5 and 25. Should be good then?

What are you using to drill? Something more precise than a cordless drill im guessing? I'd like yo see pics if your willing. Our shop has been looking for something bigger than our little torches and smaller/easier handle-ability than a national. Have checked out the smith "aircraft" torch but havent pulled the trigger b/c we can't see one running, Kevlar hoses are a major plus....

aREa541

Here are some flame shots, you can see that the flame on The Compact can go larger than the Small Torch. It still retains it's ability for a pinpoint flame as well, I would describe the flame as more "laser like". Both flame shots are of the two torches turned up to their largest stable flame, each with a #6 tip. Threw a couple shots of the 4 hole tip in there as well.

^^^^ They must have. When I bought mine about a year ago, it's the same set up as Allstyles is selling (the small, not the compact), and it was $115 with shipping, and I searched for that deal for a while. I think his price is pretty fair, and it's awesome to be able to support a fellow glassblower and not some faceless jewelry supply company.

I have never seen The Small Torch below $110, where did you get such a deal? I thought $110 was lower than any other place but after searching a little bit I see there is a supplier that is matching that price. Most are still selling in the $120 range though.

I still haven't found anybody that can beat my price on The Compact though...

aREa541
05-17-2013, 10:08 AM
...

Those Hardin's and other torches rebranded from the same factory have had multiple reports of serious issues. There is a reason they are $35... Personally, something that is involved in the combustion of gases in my hand is something I don't want to go the ultra cheap route on, but that is just me.

But then again, this is not a thread about Hardin Torches, so um yeah...

Gentecs are well worth the money. you really do get what you pay for. yeah your 35 hardin may work ok for the time being, but with cut rate plastic parts and inferior construction, you'll see problems eventually. just like the knock off ones they sell at harbor freight. my buddy bought one, took it ot of the box, iooked over the hose connections and knobs, and immediatley returned it. its like a bic lighter with an oxy input. no thanks.

Ill take one gentec over 3 knockoff any day of the week.

I picked up one of these gentec torches from Eric (allstyles)... it's awesome. It seems like it's well built, lights easily and as he says you literally can't make the flame blow out. I have a drilled out tip like the one guy mentioned above and have used that mainly. It works perfect for welds. I'm just getting into glass blowing but i can tell already that i'm going to use the hell out of this thing. now i just need to figure out a way to attach it to my bench... a magnet perhaps.

This is my favorite tool for lighting the torch:

http://www.contenti.com/products/soldering/110-416.html
(This is a lighter, it sits on the base in the next link) - $26.90
Uses a battery and when you touch the torch to the outer metal bars, it sparks in the center and the torch lights. I can light my Gentec with one hand using this setup.

http://www.contenti.com/products/soldering/114-263.html
(This works on all the Gentecs he sells) - $17.77

Killer price on the Gentecs, I'll pick up the compact from you for bench space #3 later next month.

(yay, first post, longtime lurker, just never had anything useful to contribute)

I have had quite a few inquiries about Gentecs this week, and just wanted to let everyone know I should be getting my next shipment by the end of next week. I completely sold out of stock at the DFO (which was surprising because I brought a lot of stock, thanks everyone!), and the HQ is backed up so my lead time has been longer than normal this time. I will update as soon as I have torches in stock. If anyone has any interest in any gas handling equipment, i.e. flashbacks, regulators, quick connects, gas savers, hoses or anything else that I normally don't order, now would be a good time to place an order for those items - I could get them for you by the end of next week. Gentec expects to be able to ship by Monday or Tuesday.

Thanks again for all the support!

I had some friends over after the DFO and they put the gentec to use... we mounted it to the table and used it for some really tight reversals as well as using it to finish up welds... My friend even made a dome out of electric blue velvet on it just to see if he could... everyone agreed the torch was pretty bad ass. Be careful if you drill out the tip like most people do as mine has a slight V in the flame which can introduce a cool spot... haven't had any issues with it but just thought i should mention it.

Hey neddo, sorry for the delay in reponse. Yes, you can get different tips from me for the Compact, numbers 3-7, the twin tip, and the 4 hole. There are a couple other really tiny tips available for the Compact that run on acetylene only.

I had a request for a #7 from another member on here, so I ordered myself one as well. The #7 is boss, I love this tip, and it now lives on my Compact.

As far as aftermarket tips, as this product is still pretty new to the glass market there are none available at this point, but there has been interest from a company to make an adapter that would make all Small Torch tips fit on the Compact handle.

Hope this answers all your questions, if not feel free to contact me!

Just wanted to give an update to all the members that have interest in a Compact kit. The Compact kits are currently on back order from the factory (they are waiting on hoses to finish the kits) and I expect to get them in mid November. I do have small kits in stock but those are going quick, so if you want one before mid November contact me and I can get you set up.

Also, I have worked out a deal with Gentec to change the Compact kit to include a #7 tip instead of the #4 it used to come with, along with the #6, 4 hole, and twin tip. The #7 is just a flat out baller tip, and I wanted to be able to offer this with the kits I sell to better serve the glass blowing community. The kits with the #7 will be an exclusive to me and the stores I sell to, so holler if you want the new and improved Compact kit!

What does the #7 tip look like fired up? What can I use the twin tip for?

aREa541
10-28-2013, 12:37 AM
The #7 is similar to the #6 but can go slightly larger, while still getting small pinpoint lasers. It handles higher pressures really well for a stock tip, easy to light and stays lit well.

The twin tip has bendable tubes so you can position the two tips to crossfire how you want. It has really small ports, so it would be best for very small detail work where you want to heat all around an area of glass evenly at once. I honestly never use it though.

Yeah man, I will add it to this growing order I have with them that is waiting on hoses from the factory. I talked to them today to check the status, and they told me the container is supposed to arrive on the 21st. Little longer than I had hoped or expected so I apologize to the people who are waiting.

I am also now sold out of the Small Torch kits, so the Gentec shop is closed until this order hits my door. If anybody needs a Small Torch, you can contact Phyllis at Trev's, Kinich at Cornerstone, or Glasscraft should have some as well. I will update this thread as soon as I get the shipment. If anyone is interested special ordering any product from Genetc, do not hesitate to contact me and I will add it to this order.

Thanks for all your support!

Not sure i can say its worth $35 though, it seems like all harbor freight type parts... also it would be nice if they were a bit longer... i'll probalby just buy some pieces from harbor freight and make it bigger.

Doing business with Eric was great. I have one problem i need help with though, (has nothing to do with Eric).

So i was super pumped to use my compact for the first time at the studio yesterday. I have a redmax and i bought a set of y's from Mountain Glass, so i could run my compact off the quick connects i use when renting time at my local shop. When i went to light my torch, it wouldn't light. It was blowing propane out of the torch, but it wouldn't light (this goes for both my redmax both big and little and the compact torch). Whatever was coming out of the torch just blew the flame from my lighter out of the way. After switching stations it still continued. I finally took off the Y and went straight to my redmax and it worked just fine.

Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong with my Y's or IDK WTF is going on. PLEASE HELP!

Eric, do you sell gentec gas savers? Price?

Do they make a mini version for the small/compact?

Hey Ben, I don't carry gas savers in my usual stock but I can order them when I get my shipments. I am actually doing a reorder today or Monday, so if people have special requests let me know.

Gas savers run $100, there are two models I believe - one for propane and one for acetylene use. I actually just got one for my lathe but have yet to run it. They do not make a a mini version for the Small or Compact, but they might be heavy enough to work on the normal one (I will report back when I find out on mine).

What pressure are the compact hoses rated for?
That is a good question. I have not come across that number in any of the literature I have, I will try to speak with their tech dept. and see if they know. I do know the OG Compact user Vertigo runs his at like 65 or 70 psi and have not heard of him having issues, but if he sees this maybe he will chime in if he has any input.

Whats gentecs website? My google search provided a lot of different gentec brands.

Yeah, they have a real issue with that. I have had numerous calls because people cannot find their website. The company is actually named Genstar Technologies but goes by Gentec... along with what seems to be 20 other companies in differing industries. The website is: http://www.genstartech.com/ They are a huge company with their hands in many different sectors, you want to click on the "Industrial" tab to get to the gear we mainly have interest in.

Last call for any special order requests on Gentec items. Examples of things I can get you all at great prices: hoses (both the small micro torch size and regular T grade in 1/4" and 3/8"), tips, regulators, quick connects, flashback arrestors, gas savers, welding outfits, etc. I can also get you fittings at a great price but they must be ordered in bulk (minimum of 10 per item).

I am making the reorder tomorrow morning so I must have requests by then.

Thanks for all the support TMP members, you guys rock!

How much are 8' and 12' lengths of the micro hose? How about a tip equivalent to the smith #5?

How much are 8' and 12' lengths of the micro hose? How about a tip equivalent to the smith #5?

12' replacement hoses are $40, 8' I will have to check on for you.

The Gentec Small Torch #5 tip is equivalent to the
Smith #5. I can do Small Torch tips for $15.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Also, my reorder should be here Monday. I ordered 9 Compact kits, but have since compiled a waiting list of 7 wanting one. So, if you want a Compact holler at me soon, or it will have to wait for the next order which I will be making early next week.

Gentec shipment has arrived, all people waiting have been PM'ed. Unless several people on the waiting list and alternates list change their minds, I am out of stock of Compacts until end of next week when I can get more torches sent my way (you guys are awesome, you snapped up all the torches before they even got here!).

If you need a Gentec you can always call Trev's Glass, Glasscraft or Cornerstone as they often have stock. Cornerstone is currently the only one that stocks the Compact, but I think that is going to change soon.

I also have Small Torch kits in stock, and am ready to take any special orders people might have for when I make my reorder tomorrow or Wednesday.

Oh, I wanted to give an update too. I am now offering 4-pointed star shaped knobs/valves as an upgrade to the stock knobs that come on the Compact and Small Torch. They are both the valve and the knob in one assembly so you will get a new set of valves as a bonus to go along with the bigger, grippier (not a word) knobs. It goes on easy with a 5/16" wrench, just back out the knobs, loosen them with the wrench and remove them, then the reverse to install. These will fit on both the Gentec Small, and the Gentec Compact Torch.

They are $20, + $5 shipping. If you get them with a torch order than you will not have to pay any shipping as I can throw it in the box.

I also have some other new products coming down the pipeline, including another really cool hand torch, and a nice stand for holding the micros, I will update as those happen!

Here are some pics of the star shaped knob upgrade:

These little torches crush it. I couldn't imagine not having one.

It was one if those things , just like my foot pedal, that I worked without for years, telling myself I don't really need that. But now after having it I would never go back to working without one.

For anyone on the fence about buying one of these , do it. It's well worth the dough.

Micro switch backs. Spots of devit , digging out/popping bubbles, basting in attachments, the list goes on.

All great uses, but my personal favorite is for torchin the sugar on a creme brulee. #6 tip, about 10 inches away in a sweeping motion. Perfect caramelization, and crunch. I also have friends over for grill night, where I microwave various meats and burn grill marks in with a #7. Be creative with your micro torch, it has a million uses that are just waiting to be discovered.

Yep, 11st is the Small Torch model with star knobs. It is not sold in a kit though - only as just the torch handle - and it costs as much or more than the kits. They also don't sell them on any of the Compacts. I am not sure why they don't just use the star knobs on everything...

They took me a day to get used to because I was so used to the stock knobs, but now I love them. The torch feels so much better and balanced in your hand, and is much easier to adjust the flame.

odd... mine came with hoses and tips... I love the length. 12 feet of hose is plenty for my hand torch, that 5-6 you get with a smith never seemed to be enough

Huh, that's weird. They don't seem to offer that option in their catalog anymore.

But yeah 12' of hose is nice. I wouldn't even mind more. One person made the comment that they put too much hose on the Gentecs. That astounded me, I don't think you can ever have enough hose.

WOW! Been using my Compact for a few days, and its already become a natural part of my process. Not sure how I ever worked without one! I've got it 'Y'd right into my mirage lines and it runs great. Using the #7 tip and damn, its a beast. Love it. Stays nice and tight, yet the thrust is unreal. Glad to have some single hole pre-mix in my arsenal. The 12' of hose is awesome. The two guys in my shop with Smiths are both jealous. They didn't admit, but it was pretty clear when they were checking it out.

If you're on the fence about getting a Compact I strongly recommend it! I've been doing more with it than i expected. In fact, I saved a cracked piece the other day, and I know it wouldn't have been possible without jumping between a big bushy flame and my hand torch.

Working with Eric (allstyles) is great. He received his shipment and sent me an invoice the same day. He also shipped my torch the day I paid. It arrived in great shape and quick. Couldn't be happier with the product of transaction.

Thanks!

Hey allstyles is there an extension tip in a #6 size available? I'm getting some pretty bad burns from working in the kiln.

That is the Compact's only drawback - the fact that there isn't much in the way of aftermarket or optional tips. I think that is going to change soon, as it is getting very popular and there has already been two serious people looking into making adapters and tips. I am working on a solution myself, but time has been at a shortage for me lately and the to-do list is long. I would venture to guess there will be some options within the year.

I am also working on getting a couple other hand torches worked out and tailored to fit glass blower's needs. One is a small torch - handle is 6" long and weighs 8 oz - It has "A" size fittings on it, I am going to be testing it with the micro torch hoses and see how it handles. It will accept a wide variety of tips, as it is based off the Victor J-28 hand torch. Gentec has a bunch of tips and accessories, as well as Victor, and I believe some other companies make accessories as well.

The other one is 7 3/4" long handle and weighs 10 oz. It will accept all the same tips as the first torch, but has a pilot function for fast acquisition of a preset flame.

I think both these torches will be great on the lathe or the bench, and will be durable and versatile. I will report back when I can get everything tested and try to put together some packages with only good tips we would use.

Cool, thanks for lettin me know, kinda one of those things you don't think about until it's too late.

I had considered the tip options/situation when ordering the Compact. Its a bit of a pain, but the amount of flow that the Compact can handle is so awesome, it has made it worth it for me. Enough people use this torch, its just a matter or time before someone sets up an adapter set up or makes some different tip options. The #7 is all I use, but there are applications where an extended neck could be nice.

Yes, that is one of the major differences between the two torches. I thought I had explained that, but this thread has grown to a number of pages so it might be easier miss now.

I personally have never felt the need for a different tip and I use my Compact all the time. But, i can see how an extension tip or some more multi-hole tips would be nice as an option. Although I must say that I like not having to spend $80 on a tip to get one that works well.

I don't think you can get just the nut and barb from Gentec. I have tried to get individual parts that weren't on the parts list before and it didn't work out. You might have to buy replacement hoses to get it fixed.

You could also try stripping the old hose off the barb and reattaching, but I don't know if this is a possibility for you or not.

I will look into it a little more and see if I can find a solution, let me know if you find something so I will know where to look im the future.

I posted this info in another thread, but I feel it should be here as well to help clarify a few differences between the Compact and the Gentec Small/Smith torches, so here is a copy:

I want to address this real quickly, as the difference between the Compact and the Small/Smith is something I get asked about all the time. The Compact has the same handle and knobs as the Gentec Small (which is a copy of the Smith), but after that is a different torch. The reason I love it so much is it is designed like an actual micro brazing torch, instead of using the hobbyist/jeweler platform.

The Compact uses a double O-ring seal on the tip that is tightened down by hand via the wheel. This is a way more durable, fast, easy, way to attach a tip. The Compact uses the same platform as the Victor J-28, a true workhorse in the industry for decades. In fact, you can swap Victor W-J tips onto a Compact if you are so inclined. The Compact tips also have a mixer on them (one main hole and 4 smaller ones around the collar, while the Small and Smith just have one hole. I think this is one of the reasons (combined with the larger diameter shaft) the Compact's flame is so much more stable and forceful. There is also much more material surrounding the orifice on the tip of the Compact, which means it takes longer to toast one than the tiny Small and Smith tips.

Here is a photo showing the difference:

Compact tip update:

So, I get a lot of inquiries regarding different tips that fit on the Compact. While they do their best to not explain it, I found that the Compact can accept tips from the Victor W-J line. I have some tips from Gentec I will be offering soon, that are longer and offer a variety of orifice sizes. I want to order a few more and put them through some testing so I can offer up the ones I feel are best suited for our work.

Here is a quick shot of a #3 W-J style tip on the Compact, it appears to have the exact same orifice as a Carlisle #3 centerfire. Notice it is longer and beefier than the normal Compact tips.

6076960770

In addition, I am working on getting my own line of aftermarket tips made for the Compact. My hope is to have these available in the booth at the DFO, but I am busy so not sure I will make that deadline. I also sent out some parts to Malcolm at ARTCO (who now has the Shelbo tip line), I believe he is working on getting some Shelbo tips and other tips made for the Compact as well!

Compacts are back in stock. I got sent the old kits with the #4 instead of the #7, but have #7's on the way. What I am doing is shipping out Compacts now, and then I will ship the #7 free of charge when I get them (should be early next week). This way you get a free #4 tip. I think everyone on the waiting list has been contacted, but if I forgot you just holla.

I now have an extension tip for the Compact available! It is 9" long, and is flexible so you can shape it how you want it - perfect for you in-kiln torchers and those who wish to overcompensate alike. It has a #6 sized tip on it that is actually really nice. It is has a softer touch than the #7 or even the shorter #6, but is still really stable and really hot. We have been putting it through the paces here in the shop, and we really like it.

So, I will be ordering some in my next shipment. I will be selling them for $29 + $6 shipping, so $35 shipped here on TMP. If bought with a torch you can save on shipping. If you want one off this first order, please message me so I can guarantee you one.

Here are some pics of the tip and a few flame shots, it has a really nice range.

Sorry Seth, I somehow missed this.

I don't have any ferrules in stock but I will try and get some extras sent with my next order.

As far as the adapter, I haven't been working much on it lately as I have been so busy. I have a working prototype, but you have to make sure it is tightened down right or else it will leak. I need to make sure I have a fool proof connection before I start releasing them to the public. Seeing as you have a machinist handy, your best bet might be to just have him do it for you. PM me and I will give you some details and get you figured out either way.

Yes, there are many aftermarket options available for the Small Torch. Try the Hornet tip, blastshield 5 or 7 hole, or the Shelbo line from ARTCO. What are the operating pressure ranges for the Mini?

Thanks
Kevin

aREa541
07-20-2015, 05:26 PM
The recommended pressures are quite low on the Small Torch - 8 psi on both Oxy and fuel for the #7 tip as per the Gentrc literature. Most people y directly into their bench lines and run them much higher, but they tend to blow out easier the higher you go. People combat this by either buying an aftermarket tip, buying the small inline valves to reduce pressure or running it as is. I personally prefer higher pressures on my hand torch as I like the ability to have ample thrust on the top end.

Now, the Compact has a much higher recommended pressure for the #7 tip - 30 psi Oxy and 6 psi fuel as per the literature, and the #7 has no problem going much higher. This is due to the built in mixer on the tips as well as the larger diameter shaft on the tips. Unless you have a specific need for a certain aftermarket tip, the Compact is a much better torch for what we do imo.

I will post the info on recommended pressures straight from Gentec next time I get a chance, but I am on my phone right now so don't want to do it on here.

I do offer an extended flexible neck tip with a #6 sized hole. I just ordered an 8 hole to test out.

You can also put a variety of Victor style tips on it from Victor, Uniweld, and others. Only thing to consider is with larger style tips thrust is often decreased due to the larger neck with the micro hoses supplying pressure.

Or acually now that he has the sizes you can swap bottoms yourself and he can just send your tip(77068 for compact.

77069 I've also had a 7 port tip alike for the small I used to have and it worked great! But this on the compact is more firepower, and I couldnt make it pop or blow out even raging at GTT pressures!

I don't know how I missed this neddo, these are great!

If you want tell him to take that bottom piece from the Compact Torch and make it so that you can thread Smith or Gentec Small Torch style tips on it. I think it is a 5/32 thread? This way you could use any aftermarket tip currently available for the Smith/Gentec Small on the Compact. This should really increase stability and thrust to the aftermarket tips as they have will the 5 hole mixer that is on the Compact.

I made a prototype of this adapter last year, I just don't have the time to dedicate to the design and fab process to sell it but your buddy seems like he would be great for this.

I know there is a market for it as I still get asked about it, and it would make the Compact the superior torch in every facet as the lack of aftermarket tips was it's only drawback.

77175 Yes I believe Dave can make the adapters, or anything else really! I told him you would be contacting him about this. Tips are awsome, made on cnc for super precise port holes, just top notch! Here's flame pics at 5 prop/ 20 oxy.

77176 I got permission to give yall his #503-577-7278 to buy tips and speak directly with Dave owner at Ionics corp and cut me outa the middle so to speak. Please help my friend out, he really knows exactly what he's doing and us both are combining forces to make some new bench burners that may or may not have a new form of triple mix I drew up without impeding on GTTs patents :)

Are there any of the 7 hole tips for the compact available? I'd like one.
Also Neddo I called Dave at the number you posted and haven't heard back from him. Is he still making those tips?

I got my tips from Dave, a 6 and a 7 jet for the smith and a 7 jet for the compact. They work great. Dave will cut the neck length to your specs also. Takes a little longer but you get what you want. Thanks Neddo for posting that info.

I just received my Gentec small torch and I am very happy with the product and the speed that aREa541 shipped the product. I would suggest to anyone looking for a mini torch to see him first.

What psi should I be running the Small? I just hooked mine up and could not get it lit to save my life...even at 1 psi, the propane would barely light and then just blow out. Feel like I have an issue going on. Or I'm missing something painfully obvious...

Prop tank > arrestor > Y-connect > torch

Concentrator > torch

Tried both the #3 and #7 tips.

A little late on the answer is better than never?

The flash back needs a minimum pressure to open the spring.... (guess) Same thing with quick connects.

Sorry , don't know the #'s on the small torch.

I would try at least 4-5 psi propane. I actually run my hand torch on full pressure, with a set of Y's . The Y's spliyt the lines , and have valves. I keep the valves just cracked open to limit flow on the hand torch....
Im running 5 gas 35 02, I have used it with 15psi propane and 40 psi 02.... still worked.

Got to open the valves on the torch REAL SLOWLY.

I was able to get the #6 tip working no problem, running 5gas/20psi-oxycon or 30psi-tank. Definitely need to crack valves slow like you mentioned. My #7 tip appears to be faulty, because it has a smaller orifice than the others. Been in touch with Area and he's sending me a new one. That will hopefully close the book on the issue.

Overall...I love this torch. Such a great tool to have.

Got the #7 - it's definitely the sweet tip. Way easier to light (and keep lit), while still having fine detail.

aRE541 rep'd for the extra effort on the back end of the sale. Thanks dude.

I now have adapters available that will allow aftermarket tips intended for the Gentec Small and Smith Little to fit on the Compact Torch. This allows you to put an aftermarket tip like a Hornet or Shelbo on your Comoact with the added bonus of a 5 hole baffled mixer to improve stability and thrust. This should make for the best torch/tip combo available!

I have Compacts and Smalls in stock hit me up if you wanna get set up with one! I am now doing Small torches for $100 plus shipping to TMP members as well!
