I just wanted to let you all know how wnderfull I found my last bactch of color china tube. I use the tubing for making my mini tubes. Im all for having stores only sell American made pipes. I am however sick of people asking is that chinese. Wtf. Are we racist or something. What is the huge deal with using chinese materials. And for all you people who say you don't. Where did the metal your gas tanks are made come from etc. I guaruntee we all use some sort of chinese tools. Some stuff from china does suck. Some stuff from America sucks too. I just wanted to tell you that the quality of this last batch of color china tube was high quality and not junk. Give China a chance, don't just buy American to buy American. Thats how we end up with crappy products. You may be missing out on some awesome supplies, by being racist and hating on all things china. P.S. I am not chinese. But I do love theyre cuisine!lol

I love china white. I have vac'd it, deep encased it, surface raked it, etc. It is brighter than any white I have tried, and holds up to intense heat without boiling.
I buy cases of blue and black one in. China tube, and love it. I try to buy as much Merican supplies as I can, but I can't deny the quality of the white, and the price of the color tubes for production.

I probably used it in the wrong applications, I used Eclipse black and the china white next to each other. cracked right between the colors down the entire pipe, was really bummed. but learned. since then I've used Star white and eclipse and haven't had any issues since. so I didn't really think it was my technique, just bad combo of colors

I've made jailbird tube out of eclipse and China white with no issues.

i have heard lots of horror storys, but was fortunate so far :)

it resisted a lot more abuse then i thought it was going to.

as far as the rant, seriously?
yes china has some good products. but if you want merica to even have a chance at a comeback we all need to buy in country.

wish i could double the apples to mecha

i sure do love some chinese boobies, but will admit i prefer the jap boobies.

i bought a pepper mill awhile back, it said proudly filled in america. that saddened me quite a bit
"yes it was made in china"

If There where a competitive product from an American supplier, I would buy that. But It seems that There is nothing even comparable. The color selection is awesome. The quality of the transparent colors is close to german glass, but costs so much less. So pretty much we only have the option of german or chinese when it comes to tubing. The Americans just can't make tube affordably. Just admit that the chinese have beeten us. Bow to our asian land lords and buy theyre awesome tubing! Lol

to add to my rant; for the people using chineese tubing, why do you do it? to save a couple dollars on production? is it really worth it? spend the couple extra dollars buy the better product and charge a couple extra dollars for your pieces. but these are the same people who spend 100$ a pound on slyme and stupid colors alike. its the little things like this that makes me really dislike this industry and what it stands for.

the chinese white is the best white their is. thats the bottom line. I've seen people on here say that they would pay high prices for it if they had to.

If you have to ask if its really worth it then obviously you haven't tried it.

you can lead the horse to water, but you can't make it drink.

A couple of dollars? More like shitloads of dollars. Where can I get 4 feet of 25mm american made white tubing for $20? Cause the chinese tube is $15. If it were really a couple of dollars, sure I see your argument. But for me to get an equivalent amount of color tubing it is NOT a couple of dollars more.

Also, I almost never use china color tube. I really really like the lake green though. You show me where I can get 4 feet of 25 mil aqua tubing for $20 and I'll buy it like a mother fucker. Until then I'll keep getting sticks for $15 a pop

sorry to say bub, that's operator error. china white when worked properly can be better then ga or ns.

It was prob something I did incorrectly but when I used a piece of china white tubing for a spoon I made once I worked it and annealed it, it came out and the white part felt rough. Like it had an odd texture. I'm pretty sure it wasn't any boiling but it was the whole piece of white. Any body else gotten this or know how to get rid of it ? I'd buy more because I love white on pieces but i like my glass smooth

its not always how you work it, it depends on the batch. some china white has been terrible, some has been fine. if you had some bad stuff it doesnt matter what you do with it, it will crack often.

JSR Studio
06-08-2013, 09:23 AM
I sometimes have that rough texture. I use a tiny oxygen rich flame and it polishes out. I don't know if this works just with the batch I got though.

Captain Glass
06-08-2013, 09:28 AM
Ill try it out. The piece is in the junk pile because of the grainy feel so I won't be loosing anything if something bad happens.

Definitely pre-heat for a good long time first but I'm sure you know that already.

I've had some trouble with china color. I've had a bit of success too. Had a shop mate who worked with it primarily and made it work very well. However, he had to learn to work it nicely and there were somethings it just did not like to do.

I think one of the issues with china color is that it's easy to buy a lot cheaply and then you have to deal with a large supply of it for awhile. If you get a shitty batch, which does happen, it sticks with you forever haha.

Additionally China is huge. Judging from Alibaba.com there are atleast 100 suppliers of boro tube to buy from.

http://huailaitianyuan.en.alibaba.com/product/253762639-50223983/Colored_borosilicate_glass_tubing.html

There are many other companies out there in china selling the same stuff. It seems like some of the companies also make pieces. I've recently seen oil rigs, dishes, and dabbers on Alibaba.

At least it forces us to keep progressing.

We live in a global economy. That is just the nature of the game. The only thing that is going to change that is an energy crisis like we have never seen before, which makes international shipping cost prohibitive for most items. If you wanted everything you use on a daily basis made in America you would have to forgo some items. We simply do not have the manufacturing power to produce the wide variety of products that are now available globally. Whether that would be a better world or not is not my point, I am just saying that the way of life we have does not support everything being made in America.

Do I like everything the Chinese do economically, socially, politically, environmentally, etc.? Hell no, I sure don't, but I have to say it is not like America is extremely on point with any of those sectors either. We as humans are greatly flawed, no country is exempt from that. Maybe we should look at our own shortcomings before we point the stick at other countries so readily.

So after that rant, I must say China White is a unique product in our industry with no direct comparison to any other product as far as price, workability, or look. So yes, I use it in some of my products.

I use the cobalt, green, blue/green, and amber tube all the time. You have to use a high propane flame and heat it up a little slower than clear but I make a ton of spoons with that stuff and it works great.
