I wanted to say that DA has recently invested in a new retail store in Eugene, oregon at 3580 west first ave. between seneca and bertleson, and have plans to open up a store in L.A. by next year! The Name is Glass Evolution! www.glassevolution.com (http://www.glassevolution.com) The savings GE will represent to you will be great, and the access to innovation extreme! Call either DA for wholesale, or GE for retail, and if you want discounts, or our prices are higher then you usually pay, show me an invoice or call me and let's talk about it. GE is a store for everyone to prosper from. After checking out everyone's price call me up and give me a chance to save you money.
I don't believe Winship Designs should be blamed for making a mistake on an order, because Every business has problems with pricing discounts, out of stock items, wrong product shipped etc.....,but I believe the difference is in what the company is willing to do to compensate you for the extra time you may have spent on the phone, or in a state of rage, while trying to figure out your order and the price you are paying. DA and GE alike, have a really firm policy here to overcompensate a customer if we make a mistake, usually giving at least our profit on the sale back to the customer in the form of free raw materials. I hope some of you have noticed.
Just this week,we replaced our shipping clerk with a 8 yr glassblower,so that all your product will be cut and processed by a glassblower. Most companies are not willing to pay what a 8yr glassblower wants for there time. GE and DA realized this was crucial to put very knowledgeable people in shipping, and sales.
I think we are all growing as an industry, and there are alot of hurdles, but I truely believe my customers deserve equal treatment during a crisis. For example, recently our supplier raised our price of Simax by 5%, so our policy here was to mark up the price by 2.5% in order to share with my customers the loss of profits, and also when a company makes a mistake, the customer should never be treated normally, but should be compensated as much as possible for the loss of there time, and the stress of dealing with
the incompetency. This I hope you will feel when you buy from GE or DA. We will not be perfect, but we will be fair.
Thanks for letting me rant on,
Jay Frodo

I love the Glass Evolution website interface, and whoever has answered the phone when I call is super friendly. But.......you guys need to get something together. I placed an order on Feb. 19th and you still havent gotten everything in stock so you can send it to me....most of it was images I needed for a festival....I thought I would be safe ordering about a month in advance....
I do understand that you are starting a new biz, and a new location...but I think 22 days is kinda long to be waiting for an order..... I waited sooo long though because anything other than DA images suck.....
I am sure you will be on top of things soon though!

On Jan 31, 2006, my order for over $300 worth of images was processing. They are still processing. I've called Chris several times with assurance that he will look into it but I still haven't seen or heard anything. Hopefully the new shipping clerk can get a handle on it.

Oh. That don't sound so good.... I am still being "processed" as well...
That sucks you guys have been kept waiting. No one likes that.
That being said, I have to express my complete satisfaction in dealing with GE. They called me twice to make sure they had my order correct and offered me an alteranate method of payment in order that i coud get my supplies as soon as possible. I was only spending 6 or 700 dollars, so I assume they attempt to treat everyone that way. I was also happy when i got my order, as the dichro tubing sections I ordered were almost twice the length I paid for! On top of that, I ordered several half pound increments of various colors. The lightest half pound weighed 3 grams over. The heaviest was over an ounce over. I plan on doing much more business with Jay and the gang and i am very pleased on how things turned out.

OK F*%k IT...
I was gonna let it go...but...now with this post..
You guys f'ning suck at shipping.Ive been over charged over and over for shipping. Once i called for a single quater sheet of nebula, Teresa told me my total was 104..104 for a quarter sheet!?!?! i asked why shipping was so much. she said it was because i was having it sent c.o.d. (keep in mind this is a re-order after i had already been f'ed over on shipping before dealing with yalls "new" system) i told her that it was obvious that she had never shipped anything in her life, then i asked to speak with jay. JAY,. me and you spent about 45 mins on the phone, both of us sitting in front of an online computer going to fedx's web site checking on shipping....I clearly rember you telling me how sorry you were that this was happening. you seemed very concerned and pretended to give a fuck..you said how you would send me free shit for f'ning up(which i didnt get and dont really care about) and when i finally got my quarter sheet of nebula, i was charged twice for shipping...i called and you said that you guys were closed for the holiday............and that was it. i never heard back...never heard anything....... the only thing i have heard is a buddy of mine telling me yesterday how you guys f'ed up his whole order and over charged him.
The coatings that DA sells(doesnt make) are awesome! I use nebula and grass green almost everyday! i friggin love the stuff. i liked it so much i used to sell it to the other lampers around this area. not for profit(shit is expensive as hell) but just because i liked it so much and wanted everyone else to see how great it is. It is a shame that i am having so much of a diffuculty now getting it.
Please Jay if you could man.. hook Erik Anders up with a full line (nebula and grass green..lol.) i used to buy the stuff from him awhile ago and his service is top notch or better,if thats possible .

I gotta say, I love the store/selection/concept/people .. BUT.. I have A.D.D. when it comes to ordering supplies. I usually wait until I run out to order stuff, so knowing exactly when it will arrive is super important.
I had to cancel a few small orders that were "processing" for over a week. They sent me a little gift pack which was nice....but....
...a disclaimer saying images may take a while longer, or instead of a generic "processing" maybe a "backordered until xx/xx/xxxx" would go a long way.
Regardless, I know this outlet is at its infancy and will only get better.. I'll def. place an order again, but I'll call for an E.T.A. first.

I have to admit the images have been difficult to deal with so far, but I do believe we will come up with a kick ass solution soon. Remember that for the last 5 years no Distributer has ever been willing to carry more then say 25 of the DA super detail images (except coe33) because they say it is to difficult. We will come up with a solution soon.
We had to get rid of our shipping clerk Teresa because of lack of glass knowledge, but we have replaced her this week with Kris Hale who has blown glass for 8 yrs! He is very competent to get your order processed right. The people who posted their grievances, please call us so we can hook you up!!!
I am overflowing with random images of various sizes right now trying to get this system going. I will gladly send all of you who have been waiting free random images if you call and let me know who you are, and I will not give up until I get this image system right!!! GE was started soully to get the word out about NEW raw materials, PROMOTE Innovative Artists, and come up with SOLUTIONS to difficult glassblowing services. Everyone mentioned how they liked the DA images and DA DIchro,so here is a deal I would like to make.
If during the month of April you order either of these DA products from GE,get the images for 35% off,and the DA Borocoatings for 20% off. This is only for this Forum, and you must mention this post. In the near future we will not only have our sh#t together, but we will be saving you money. Tommorow we are posting on this forum,GE and DA website Jason Lee class info and pricing, plus we are nailing down dates for demos and classes right now with Dellene Peralta,Darby Holm,Banjo,Shad, and Mickelsen. We are putting the music and finishing touch on the second video with super sick demos by alot of legends. If you are an Innovative Artists with a unique style to teach or Demo, please contact Jay Frodo at D.A.

And to make it clear, Jay has done nothing but good things for me and the lampworking community as a whole....
When my Herbie was stolen, jay hooked me up like I never imagined...
And as Jeff said, Glass Evolution is still in its beginning stages, once the ball is rolling, its gonna get better and better. Its all about getting into the swing of it all......
I will definately order from GE in the future, despite the the amount of time I have been waiting...

the only way to make that happen is to keep ordering other products from me. Jay has helpped me in many many ways. i appriciate the feedback and support. but for me to stock all the colors of everything , its going to take allot of capital that doesnt exist yet. so dont nag Jay about it, nag me ;)

I was excited to hear about Jay's new venture called glass evolution. What a good concept, but I think customer satisfaction should be a priority especially a new business. I have not been treated well as a customer. My order was placed on JANUARY 23RD!!! Last week I recieved 1/2 of my order. today is the 15th of MARCH and nothing. I ordered supplies in January for some Valentine's Day gifts I was making. I talked with Teresa about 8 times. She was very nice and said they would make it right with me and I hope thats true.
Having said that,I still support Jay and his new venture. He has done a lot for our art. I wish him the best and hope that they can get on track. I intend to give him a second chance because I know we all screw up from time to time.
Thanks for letting me rant.

What do I do if the DA sheets flake off. Two sheets the grass green and nebula are flaking, mostly the on the edge of the green. It seems the nebula is a lot different color and breaking patern. Never had this problem before. I dont use anything to clean them. Anyone else have these problems?

Scott, give me a call is what you do!!!!
Alot of times once you stretch it there is so much chro on the sheets that you can't tell it flaked. If you are using it unstretched it can be a problem, give me a call. It happens very rarely that the dichro does not work.People might not think it will turn out nice, but it does.Do you have any pics you can e-mail me or post up??! My specialty is coming up with solutions to these things, never hesitate to call me.
The best advise I can give any one is to call me directly if you ever experience any problems with DA Dichroic, and do not scratch or cut down the sheet to much at first, until you know you like it.
Another note is Glass Evolution is not Jay's new venture, but is a LLC in which I have heavily invested in with Kris Hale and Melissa Willmeth. GE is much bigger then me!!!!! The support we have recieved from the glass community is insane!!!! Since the open house we have recieved at least 250 new customers! We are trying to keep up with it all. GE now has 5 full time Employees to process your orders. Now that we are dealing more direct with the public, you will see the innovations in raw material come very quickly.
Thanks,
Jay Frodo

same complaint. ordered two months ago and have not recieved full shipment. (erik i'll send you an email later today) coatings are great, nice and thick but i don't think the product is worth the pain in the ass to get.
-thick coating flaking, needs to be baked at 1300 - 1400 to fix the metal to glass.

I am also waiting on an order that was placed Feb 8th
I emailed to see if something was holding it up so I could substitute out of stock for instock and get my order shipped. I was phoned back promptly(thank you!) and told it would be shipped on 3/6, but no package yet......I saw them advertising as in stock what they told me was out of stock so I am hoping my order will get shipped soon....... :bouncy:
I understand that GE is new and evolving and you've got my support. Thanks for making the right changes and thanks for your amazing products!

I ordered a Delta Elite from GE which was to be shipped Dec05 but the face got damaged before shipping/ while packing (old shipping dude?). Was bummed bout having to wait even longer for my torch but Jay was super helpful & apologetic. Offered free shipping & some freebies in the box to make up for any trouble. GE ended up soaking up the cost of drop shipping me a new one (in Jan) direct from W&W which unfortunately meant no freebies in the box but no sweat. Jay's right tho, sh#t happens but it's how you deal with it when it does that makes the difference. The frienldy, helpful service definitely made a repeat customer out of me!!
