Just bought several tubes of Chinese color from Dichroic Imagery, one of them being 32x4 Jade White which is ridiculously temperamental. Like, while going to slowly heat it up at the tip of a neutral flame and a 6" crack shoots down the tube sending a hot piece of glass flying at your hand and burning your nail, temperamental. Even an annealing flame didnt help, just made it crack more... I know Chinese tubing is generally shocky but I cant imagine that to be normal, especially seeing as how my other amber and cobalt tubing was fine. Should I be annealing these shocky tubes in the kiln before I use them, or is this just the universe's way of telling me not to buy cheap imports?

I had to stick the jade in the kiln to pull a point. Way Shockey! Cool color though - looked great with encased gold fume. Hopefully the next batches will improve. Got lucky with two cases of blue and black one in. Works well, with no seeds or inconsistencies.

Chinese color is always temperamental, period. I don't touch the white, not even the new stuff.

The white tubing has changed throughout the years, and now works pretty darn good. It's this new Jade white, which is a smooth, less opaque formula, that goes off like a grenade, if not pre-heated, in my experience. China White rod is the brightest white of the six whites I have, and works well in most applications. Next is tag, star, sno, borrobar, glasstronis, etc... Just my opinion, no offense.

I don't know the name, but not lake. It looks like jade. They confused the matter by naming the new white color jade.

^^^ I got some of the Jade Green as well and it is a minty color, not like forest green. Im assuming its just as shocky but I havent used it yet. I'll post about it when I do.

Heh, pretty funny to hear that the jade white is super shocky. I'm pretty sure the whole idea behind it was to make a white that is less shocky. I heard it's just regular white mixed with clear.

If that IS the case, I'd understand it being shocky, china white and clear don't get along well.

Anyway, who knows, maybe you got a shitty piece. Sometimes I get china white that is just fantastic and then other times the whole case will be absurdly shocky and incompatible with other boro.

Different distributors also carry other asain glass. What ABR has is not the same as Glasscraft, and same with Mountain. The last few batches of white from ABR we got in like 2011 were incompatible and had to be used with only itself. Glasscraft regular white, bought in feb of 2012 runs like butter and yet to have any issues. I can only imagine how that opaque looking green would take to being sleeved...
