Was doing some hunting for a used carlisle black widow, and came across this. Thought it was cool thought I might share. Might be worth something.

I do believe that was an oil fired torch that was used to light oil fired furnaces way back in the day:chilling:

I actually bought one of these all polished up and nice in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. It needs a gasket on the fill hole/pressure pump thing but other than that it's in great shape. Not Carlisle brand though, that's badass!

I gotta couple of these around the shop for decoration.........my uncle said he can remember using them to weld with back in the day. also said they were scary as hell to use.

I wonder if these could be used to melt glass? If they were in working condition. The one I have was fueled by white gas. Not sure how hot or clean that burns, the construction reminds me of a hothead though.

My uncle is a volunteer for wheaton glass and he certainly thought it would melt glass.....how well and how clean is a different story. yeah he said white gas too. mine have pump to pressurize the gas more.......personally i would never fire them up but the ones i have are pretty beat up lookin.

Oh yeah, I think I'll pass on firing up a 70 year old torch with leather gaskets as well. As safe as it sounds, you know. :D
