Has anybody ever used those steal punties...it seems like a good idea if it actually worked.

i dig get to play with it in soft glass and it worked... id ont know about boro i think it would be alot harder sence the cooling rate is so differnt ... it cools it gets knocked off... i have gotten it to work for a quick marble pull off in boro,, it was simi successful, but when i was finaly rounding the last punty it poped off. so then i had to do the roll around heat thing till it took that little scar out.

yes, steel punties or mandrels work for boro. i used these in the first couple months of blowing as experimentation.
i don't think think there's much of a reason to use steel with boro.. but.. maybe. i was a newb and wasn't controling my heat, so my punty would melt. i don't really do that anymore.. so.. no reason for steel punty.
