Hey all,

Dipping into the wisdom again haha. My buddy, who knows i mess with glass, mentioned he had a piece with a hairline fracture most of the way around where the mouth piece is connected to the can and asked if it was still safe to use with his herbal remedies. I asked to see it and it is barely visible. I tried to take pics but don't have a tight enough macro for it to show.

It can't be felt from the outside and have tried to use a pipecleaner to get inside to feel if there was any resistance on the spot but I can't feel any....but that does not mean its not there, just can't be felt due to the length of the reach. We're talking VERY tiny fracture.

Anyone feel like weighing in?

Thanks

well....

yeah...

I mean, it's not going to suddenly fill his room with toxic gases, or come to life and pistol whip him....

I think the worst case scenario is... it'll break.

might make a mess if it's a water piece, and breaks and spills....

Eventually it will break. Sooner than if it did not have the fracture. I think that's the answer, "sooner".

Bummer that it has a crack, but it sounds like one that could be easily healed. It's a risk to reheat any glass piece, but if it's a nice piece it might be worth the risk. Or not. Haha. Good luck!

Thanks All!,

I'll send him the white stallion pic with "SOON" as the subject. That should ease the situation haha!

Seriously though, I appreciate the replies. I get very little time to torch but will do this as long as I live. The funny thing is that when people find out in any fashion that you melt glass they automatically think you know everything about it.:puzzled:
