So i got my champion the other day such a nice torch but they say if I remove the base it voids the warranty. so now I can't put it on my lathe, I'm just wondering is it really that big a deal.

Is there some kind of sticker or seal on it where they can tell if you disassemble it?
Can you just fab a simple mount for it? Not sure what your fire carriage looks like on your lathe but I`d say figure out a way to clamp it down.....If not I trade you my PM2D

i was going to build a mount for it that uses the two screws that already go into the torch. I don't see any tear away's but I could take it off and then have one sitting in-between the base and the torch...lol but really void my warranty just because I take a plate of metal off I just spent 1700 I should be able to do what I want with my torch lol

I am having a really hard time thinking of a reason that removing the base should void the warranty

that what I was thinking but there was a little tag on the torch that said if you remove the base your warranty is void. it must be for some safety thing

well that's just plain retarded
straight from the Bethlehem website:
"when packing up your torch. For lower shipping costs we suggest shipping the torch without the base."

wow that just ridiculous and no one has emailed me back but its only been a couple of days...lol
Harry... damn man... i wouldnt worry about it...just use the torch like you want to and if you need service send it back without the base like they say to do.
That sicker is on there to cover their ass in case somebody takes off the base and hurts themselves with the torch. I would bet their lawyer required they put it on the base so they couldnt be sued.

So I heard back from beth they say I can remove the square base but not to mess with the scroll arm. haha I guess that would be a problem if you removed the scroll and lost all the ball bearings
