Does anyone on this forum blow glass in Oklahoma? That's where I'm from and I'm trying to find someone to teach me or give me advice on how to get started! I don't have a lot of money and I don't have any experience to be honest but I'm extremely interested in becoming a lampworker and I've been studying on my own but without the experience I can't really say much
So hit me up if your in the area and need a hand with whatever in exchange for knowledge and experience! Thanks

There's a great little place in Tulsa, across the street from Caz's Cow House, that does beginner lessons and such. They do lampwork and furnace work.

Is it that studio in the Brady district? I took a intro class there (fell in love with glass even more) but it's kinda outta my budget to actually sign up for there 6week courses :/ and I asked them about lamp-working and they said they have the equipment but no instructor :(

Lampworking is going to suck up a lot of money, you don't really realize all the costs until you get into it. I'd keep making deposits to your piggy bank if you can't swing the classes.

I took a couple classes with Max at the Tulsa Glassblowing School - he's a real good, patient teacher. It can be pricey, however.

I was there one day when they had a man come in to teach some of their employees about lampworking. I donated about 10 or so pounds of 104 rods to them to help them get started with the lampworking. I don't know if they done much since then with lampwork, though. - this was before Christmas ( '13 ), I think.

What kind of equipment do you have, Libby?
