Hey i am new to these forums so please try not to rip up a noob too bad. :puzzled:

Hey my name is Noel. I am looking for a local glassblower in the boston area that might not mind meeting someone new that's interested in glassblowing. I have always had a passion for this type of artwork and hardly know where to get started. As with computers (which i am very good at and will be my profession after school) i like to learn by example so i was hoping to meet someone here. I am 20 years old and currently going to school near northeastern.

So if you would like a apprentice of sorts or just someone to show off your stuff too then i am your man. I am very interested in this so even if you want to reccomend a class or somewhere to go for more info let me know.

I would like to focus on making pipes but am willing to start anywhere especailly beads for necklaces.

PM me on the fourms or Email me at SilentHawk36@hotmail.com

Thanks,
Noel

Check out Diablo Glass and Metal (http://diabloglassandmetal.com/) in Mission Hill. They are a hop, skip, and a jump away from you (quick walk from Huntington Ave), they offer classes and rental time, and there are always folks around who will be happy to talk to you about glass.

Yeah, don't go to Diablo, I used to live in Boston and got the cold shoulder from them a lot, plus their lampworking facilities are pretty weak. Check out Nickdood, I used to work in his shop, he's a stand-up guy, and could at least get you started, plus there are some cool kids that blow in the building where he has his studio.

All I can say is that whatever their problems in the past, they have a new "Creative Director" there now, and I think that she is very promising. I would encourage you not to listen to the shite other folks are spouting about Diablo, and make your own judgements...

And you can pretty much walk in any time that they are open, just to see what's going on. It's so close to you, how can you not?

Nick can teach you a thing or too, himself. He's only been doing this for about ten years though...
