the tank i got from praxair has a sticker that says 337 but it appears to be a 281 according to your pic.

well there are some 337's that are short and fat instead of tall. Most of the time the 337's are DOT-3AA2400 (4000 psi safety). Look at the safety rating and DOT rating. DOT ending in 1800=3000psi, 2015=3360psi, 2265=3775psi, 2400=4000psi.

thanks yah it says dot-3aa2400. other question i have is normally when i get the tank it reads 2600-2700 psi, one tank i got was at 2300. i told the guy and he said 2200 is what they fill them to. so do they really overfill it almost every time? should i keep my mouth shut and be happy im getting ~500 psi extra every tank?
