i checked with the search function already couldnt find it so please dont yell at me, but what size inner tube for a 75x5 dichro stak with ga rods? thought it was 44, just did a stak n had a nightmare fitting everything. i cut all my strips perfect, stacked them in perfect, i just did one the other day and it came out perfect. i checked the rods and all of them were over 7mm, but under 8mm. am i wrong about 44mm inner tube?:bangHead:

You need a 50 mm inner and 4mm behind the dichro if its 1/8th plate and 7mm rods to finish the stack.
with 44mm your color rods would be falling everywhere.

thanx for the reply stroker, but i dont think were on the same page somehow. i used 75x5 outer, pretty sure it was 1/8 dichro, andd 44 inner, with 7-8 mm color rods, and they were far from falling around, it was too tight to get everything in. so the next size tube i had was 38 so i put 4mm clear rods between the 38 and the color and i was able to make it work, wasnt as nice a fit as the last one i did, but it worked

Nope im correct. Do the math.
75 -10=65 -14=51 so a 50mm inner will give you an almost perfect fit with 7 mm first quality rods.
i do all my vacstacks with 75 out and 50 innertube. Pretty sure im right on this one unless i just got real lucky with the 30 or so stacks i did last year.

If you used 44 then you should have approx 3mm air around entire perimeter and 38 approx5-6 mm airspace.
somewhere you got one of your specs wrong.
math doesnt lie.

youre right, and youre right, and i too have done well over 30 vac stax last year. but you are forgetting the dichro. the dichro is 3 mm so that fills the perimeter u speak of, guessing i just need more space for tolerance.

Are you trying to stack dichro over 7mm rods or 4mm stringers?

I only use stringers to back my dichro as it seems a waste to put full rod color behind dichro sheet.

I have done at least 5 stacks with dichro in the last few months. Always the same equation.

4mm rod and 1/8th inch dicrho make a great fit between 75-5 &50-5

I think he's putting his strips over or on top of the 7mm color rods. If that's the case and your using 1/8 in. dichro then the 44 should be a perfect fit inside 75x5.

ur right maijah, 75 outer, 1/8 dichro, 7mm color rods, and i thought 44 inner, too tight a fit, i checked all the color rods, they were all over 7mm but under 8mm. wondering if that threw it off? i did i cdichro stak the other day with 70 outer, dichro, 7mm, 38 inner, worked perfect, but it was the last piece of 70 i had. maybe ill order some 4mm next time i get color. how many stix of 4mm fit in a 75 with dichro?. either way i made this one work with the 75 n 38 inner, i stuffed a bunch of 3 n 4 mm clear behind the color.

I do my dichro vac stacks on 70x5 with a core of 38 and I cut all my dichro strips the same size as the rods.

I was thinking this was a partial or halfstack of color and dichro. Not a full dichro pull. My setup matches you dichro thickness to the color rods.
for full dichro i still use the same size tube and 4mm stringers under 1/8th or 3.2mm dichro.
your color is very saturated still and you save a good amount of $ using 4mm intead of 7mm.
I use ga stringers and they make life nice for this.

Your problem Is your ga rods are slightly to thick. I have trouble myself sometimes using their color for certain sized vacstacks. Try using some north star they tend to be just a bit skinnier and will fit perfect. You've got the right idea though.
