When it's late at night at the shop and no one is around. I swear my wig wags make a very faint sound. It's at a very high frequency, almost like a dog whistle and has the faint sound of a lobster screaming. It sounds like a rocking chair. What sound does your wig wag make?
I think that might just be tinnitus..

Water condensation leaving the blowtube as steam would be my guess, mine do that sometimes and i have been surprised by it.

I have noticed that sometimes they make a low frequency humming. Not really sure what thats about, I figured it was something to do with resonant frequency and the heat. I dunno. As long as it doesn't blow up in my face, i don't care what it does lol

I cant wag but I heard a whoooooooooo. A pulse jet engine made from glass running on steam is my guess

Wig wags make this sound in my head that sounds like a voice saying "played out, played out" or "you should be sculpting it's way better money".
I keep on twisting them lines anyway tho.

the first time my blowtube hooted, i was very new to glass and had no idea wtf it was or how it happened, and it really weirded me out! then i came on here and saw via a search that it's a normal occurance lol.
the look on my face must have been priceless.

istandalone, hah, that's exactly what I was going to post - my wig wags whistle, or hoot, as you put it. Happened just the other night, middle of the night, and it sounded like a whistle came from right outside past my open sliding glass door. Even though completely alone, I turned off the torch, muted the tv, listened to the silence for a moment, then said "who whistled?"... and it wasn't until I turned everything back on, stuck the blank back in the flame and heard the whistle again that I realized it was the glass and felt like an idiot. And no, that wasn't the first time I'd heard my glass whistle, though it hadn't happened in a while. Heh, yay paranoia, fun times.

... and has the faint sound of a lobster screaming.
That's just me dropping another piece on the floor, don't worry I run out of air long before it gets dangerous. :twitch:
