You have some pretty cool stuff here, would you be interested in possibly setting up some kind of bulk sale and/or possible future business arrangements?

I am looking to start my own little small business retailing a few tobacco accessories because the local businesses are way overpriced and I see a market I need to hit.
So, basically I am looking for like prodo spoons, maybe some bubblers, concentrate accessories, joints, and maybe more.

How can someone know that its actually you making the stuff you are selling and not just importing and re-selling? Seems to me as long as you've been on here the quality of your work stays the same. i doubt if you are on the level. Make me look like an asshole and post some youtube vids of you making the stuff your selling with a current newspaper and Ill buy whatever you make for double your asking price.

I've seen lots of Nomad videos. Not everyone has the desire to make headdies or go beyond what they currently produce because they make enough money doing that they already do. Nomad is a baller, he even has a money badge to prove it. What more could you ask for. ;)

Nomad has posted videos of him making pieces. He posts photos of his shop, when he built a new shop, etc.

I know people whose glass hasn't changed in a decade. Prodo workers get like that - lather, rinse, repeat. Nowhere does it say switch your shampoo at any point.

If the price he gets remains stable, then making the same piece over and over increases efficiency and profit. I think Nomad does this for a job, remember that everybody's motivation in glass is different.

Here are some pics from 2007 I found. I don't make large inside-out pieces anymore. They cost me too much in Oxygen. I made them with my Carlilse CC. Which I had to get rid of. I also sold them for $250 each. Which I can't get anymore. They were supposed to cost $350 retail.
Just to show you how much my work has changed.

Now you can buy stuff from china that is way light with reversals all over it. So what is the point. Market changed when the I China imports came out. They have some nice color work on them. Not like the Indian stuff. Actually China has the nicest imports out of everyone for really cheap.

nice nomad good work. i work at a distro i see a ton of import stuff. nomads pipes have a made in usa flavor I can tell just from first glance.

import stuff is usually stupidly thick and the colors are all dirty looking, especially the stuff from india/bangladesh. i agree that the chinese stuff more closely resembles us made but they are still usually smaller and thicker. i think it has to do with the shipping, the heavier and smaller it is the more of them make it across the ocean in one piece.

I would trade glass for a 20 psi 10 lpm oxy con also. I could really use one for my center fire.

Nomad

I would trade for a set of cross country skis with metal edges. Size 190 back country style skis. For the next month as long as there is snow.
Something like a rossignol BC 70 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rossignol-BC-70-Positrack-Ski/251733879034?_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982&_trkparms=aid%3D777000%26algo%3DABA.MBE%26ao%3D1%2 6asc%3D20131227121020%26meid%3D5c8945b37e5a48659a1 9cc5cc2a046ba%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26 sd%3D400868727880 is what I really want. But I would take almost anything.
Today I am going snowshoeing. I need to get outside and get some exercise. There is so much snow.
I go for free at https://www.facebook.com/peachhillpark
This is what the trails looked like 3 snowstorms ago. It snows a little every other day. So it is only partially tracked whenever I go up there.

I found something used like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/BEAUTIFUL-SET-KARHU-101BC-190cm-WAXLESS-CROSS-COUNTRY-SNOW-SKIS-W-POLES/400868727880?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%2 6asc%3D20131003132420%26meid%3Dab05b5b657b2470c9e8 a2d75294cabae%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D6%26 sd%3D351322096311&rt=nc
But I am low on cash at the moment. I need boots also. I can get them new for under $100.

Nomad
02-25-2015, 01:02 PM
On second thought I would probably hurt myself on skis. I just snowshoed the hill and the trails for 1 hour 30 minutes and it is steep and ungroomed. I am not sure how I would do on skis. It would be really fast going down and hard going up.
I will stick to snowshoeing and snowboarding myself I think and I got everything I need for that right now.

i could make you guys both a footpedal(electric) if you are interested. 200$/each. it would be the same as the other 2 i've put together. One is on my mirage, the other is on a CC. If you wanted a oxygen-bypass it would be a little extra. Mounts under bench or anywhere you'd like. I would take pictures of mine, but it's just mounted unenclosed solenoids. I can make a floor/display model out of my current one but it will take a week or so. If you ordered one, It would take 7-10 business days. nothing special on the enclosure just a metal box, with connections, and a bypass if you'd like. extra 25$.

quality high flow solenoids with seals that are built to last!

Nomad
02-28-2015, 08:33 AM
I could really use the oxygen. What torch do you run the ex-15 on? I have my regulator at about 17 psi actually. I think I need a 20 psi 10 lpm for the center fire on the bethlehem bravo.
I want a mechanical foot pedal. Not an electric one. I kind of have one picked out actually. But if you had pictures it would help.

Nomad
02-28-2015, 08:35 AM
Yeah I am told that I need three 20 psi 10 lpm oxy cons to fully power the torch. Right now I really only have room for one. But I need oxygen lately a lot. I can get tanks once in a wile in this weather. I need a solution right away also.

Nomad
02-28-2015, 08:39 AM
actually I only have one outlet I can use for the pedal and it is a 15 amp one. I have my exhaust fan, a work light, and my radio plugged into it right now. I might overload the circuit. I keep my kiln on a single 20 amp outlet by itself. So I am not sure I have the electric.
How much does it use?

Nomad
02-28-2015, 08:47 AM
getting propane is easy. I have three 25 lbs tanks. I can fit 2 in the back seat of my Saab with the window cracked a little. It works well. I can get it filled or exchanged anyplace for $15-$25 a tank.
The O2 tanks need a truck and I technically don't own a car. I use my fathers old car whenever I want. But I have to borrow my mothers SUV to get the gas. She goes away a lot in the winter time also. So I am having a tuff time only being able to get gas on Tuesday- Thursdays.

The footpedal uses about 10 watts i believe, and it plugs into a standard 120vAC outlet. It would be fine in the scenario you described. An exhaust fan, radio, and work light probably pull less than 10 amps.

I can do it whichever way you prefer. I was going to use barbs, but I can put standard B fiitings on if thats what you would like.

It won't take me a week to make. If you were to pay me through paypal, i would start on it immediately. It would ship out before next friday.

If you want me to take you seriously, you will have to pay in order to get the ball rolling. While I do plan on making these whether you order one or not, the start date of the project depends on the seriousness of the buyers.

All sales are covered through paypal, and i guarantee the pedal will work properly.

You can PM me your email, then i will sent you a paypal request. Once you pay, I'll start to build.

yes, you could mount it like that. I hope you don't take any offense to paying up front, I won't feel safe shipping until the payment is received. Just let me know, I check TMP daily. I think it saves me about 20% on oxygen, and it helps you to progress. I really believe that, even if you are a long time glass blower who knows there shit. It helps save time and can be like an extra set of hands.

LooseSeal Baller

If your kiln is 120, then it probably pulls about 1300 watts or so...Typical space heaters usually pull about the same amount 1500 watts.

the cost of electricity varies from place to place i think i pay about .07¢/kilowatt.

I'm lucky enough to work pretty exclusively with one shop who takes care of me. I tell them what I want for pieces and they give it to me. I'm always fair and they always make 2x so it works nicely. If I tell them my prices are slightly going up they slightly raise their prices, simple as that.

I got a small gas heater for my garage this year and what an investment! It's a natural gas heater, piping was already right there and there was even a T waiting to be plugged into so I just ended up paying for the heater and installing it myself. It's only 8,000 btu, but it warms up the uninsulated garage in the morning and between that, my kiln and my torch I stay toasty for the most part. I took a few excessively cold days off but that was more because of how the glass was acting and not so much discomfort.

Being run all day, every day it cost me about $20 bucks last month. As opposed to the $250+ I was paying monthly in propane for heat.

Nomad
03-03-2015, 06:08 AM
Yeah I work for a distributor and they normally keep me very busy. I have no idea what is going on. I just tried to contact them.
I only have a small amount of orders from other people. Jellyfish glass wanted me to sell exclusively to them but I have a couple of customers from over the years. I fill there orders when Jellyfish is slow usually.
But I am afraid they want more glass then I can make right now. That might be a problem now?
Like I said I had trouble getting enough oxygen. But I am putting in a foot pedal and a oxy con for my center fire. I should have 70% more gas.

Nomad

I might have to switch to kerosene heat. I don't like it because I have to go out and buy kerosene all the time. But it is cheap like $10-$20 week from what I remember. It also kicks out more heat then the electric.
It is nice having all the materials delivered. Except I still have to go out for oxygen and shipping supplies.

istandalone24/7
03-03-2015, 06:46 AM
I could really use the oxygen. What torch do you run the ex-15 on? I have my regulator at about 17 psi actually. I think I need a 20 psi 10 lpm for the center fire on the bethlehem bravo.
I want a mechanical foot pedal. Not an electric one. I kind of have one picked out actually. But if you had pictures it would help.

i bought them for a midrange...ran the mid off of two of them, then got gifted a 3rd one. all 3 of them ran the midrange as good as tanked (i had an 11gal holding tank, no compressor) but two was very adequate.
funny thing...the 10lpm/20psi machines are the same as the 8lpm/15psi machines...they're just cranked up higher and more likely then not the purity sensor is disabled. \

i get this info from someone i know personally, who has taken these machines apart extensively. i'm pretty sure two of them would be better then one, but that's just conjecture.

Nomad

also keep in mind......it isn't an actual 20psi. 20psi off the tank acts differently then a 20psi oxycon.

Its about flow. Tanked oxygen flow is unimpeded. Oxygen concentrators generate oxygen through a process called Pressure Swing Absorption or PSA. There is a sieve bed or beds filled with a mineral called Zeolite. When air is passed through the Zeolite Nitrogen is trapped, and oxygen is allowed to pass. This creates oxygen that is 90% or greater in purity. Through the process of pressurization and depressurization, the flow fluctuates slightly. Different oxygen concentrators use different variances of PSA, which results in slightly different fluctuation levels. Linking 2 or more concentrators together helps eliminate fluctuation.

the reason for the pressurization and depressurization is due to the nature of PSA. The sieve beds are filled with air we breath, supplied through an oil-less compressor or other means of making clean dry air. Once the sieve beds reach the desired pressure, the depressurization process takes place. There are usually 2 or more sieve beds/cylinders, each pressurizing and depressurizing at precise times to allow for a steady flow. When the depressurization occurs nitrogen that is caught in the Zeolite sieve, is released into the atmosphere. and the process begins again.

Not that many new shops opening up lately around here. It is really kind of sad how that is changing. We got tons of crappy gas station glass though. I had four stores close a couple years ago. One guy died from a heart attack, two had health problems and had to retire. One said she could not pay her rent and compete with the imports across the street. Even know she would sell out of my glass all the time. I think she did not mark it up enough. But there goes the town of Woodstock. It is all imports now.
Except there is one guy who buys from distributors. He does the tye dye t-shirts and I believe he goes to the shows and sells them also. But he is not a very nice guy.

I can't make enough glass myself for the shops. They need more people then just me. The imports have reliable catalogs and this guy in particular buys from a van. I have biked at Plattekill. It is awesome! Very challenging. It will be a fast cruzer then at the end of the trail a 10 foot drop. You have to do drops like that big to go on the mountain. They have big ones also. It is the hardest mountain to bike on the east coast.
I used to get a seasons pass to hunter for biking. They used to be open on the weekends. But they put in a new 6 person lift and you can't put bikes on it anymore. So they closed the program. I never go anymore..... But Windham mountain has mountain biking now.

But everyone blazes at the mountain. I sold like 5 bubblers this year to retired baby boomers who go to the mountain all the time. They even complained that they were too cheap. I could easily sell them for $30 each. When they first came out I used to sell people $50 large bubblers in the lodge from NYC all the time.
But I sold them wholesale for $15 each. They got to choose colors too. They love the water pipes.

mid-run woodsy breaks are nice too!
but i just roll logs. once lit, good to go. a pipe is too much of a PITA unless in the woods.

No way man. If I rolled one I would have to take a nap or something? I only smoke spoons and chillums mostly. I don't even use the water pipes that much anymore they burn too much for me. It is really expensive too.
Not like legal recreational in Colorado which is like $180 an oz. We have to pay like $400 here all the time and that is the cheaper price.

When I used to grow it I used a large bubbler with a butane lighter and a keef box. Worked the best!

i pay about $300 most usually. not top shelf, but still very good. and no way do i smoke the whole bone to my head. it's just easier to get lit, and then i'll butt it after a few puffs. i gave up trying to deal with pipe on the lift or even on the mtn really.
although, those old school metal pipes with the screw on cap would be perfect. and a blast from the past. shit i think i'll have to get one for the summer hahaha

my guess is that those will fly off the shelves (or off the table on the lot)!! very cool milli!

Nomad

I actually went back a second time and they had 3 canes left. So I bought 2 pieces of the steal your face one. Enough to make a nice order of like 150 pipes with. The Strobel one was really expensive and I got 5 grams. Enough for like 50 pipes maybe.

Nomad
03-05-2015, 01:15 PM
I am going to sell them to everyone I know. It will give me something to do for sure. They will hopefully be sold on the lot and in stores. For a limited time.

Just paid for 14 grams of 50th anniversary steal your face for $145 and 5 grams Strobel's 50th Anniversary milli for $82.00. Life is too short for cheap milli. I am the guy to ask if you want pipes with these images on them.

I should get my foot pedal today. I have to save up and get some hoses so I can install it. I should have it together soon. Maybe April when I get everything hooked up including the oxy con. But at least I will have a cool setup by then. Before I am forced to move.

Have not gotten foot pedal yet. But I got these cool milli's. I sold one piece to someone on the site for $100. It is 5 grams. I have another 9 grams of the 50th stealy cane. The Jerry Garcia looks like it might be a hard cane to use. There kind of fat. So I have to pull them down a little. Might make the image too small? We will see. If there too fat they don't pop off right.

I think I might fuck up the Jerry milli. I would consider selling it for $150 plus shipping. It is 5 grams. Made at the champs show. Sold out Milli.

I am now sold out until August. I have so many orders to do. Sorry.
I am not going to be able to sell anymore of the millie. Except the Strobel 50th anniversary with Jerry surrounded by 50 roses.
I sold a ton of steal your face pipes. All the milli I have right now.

any style other than wrap and rake available on a sidecar bubbler?

Nomad
05-15-2015, 06:07 PM
I can do what ever you want. Some inside-out or some other kind of raked thing? Just ask. I am really busy making wrap and rake for the 50th anniversary dead show. So be warned there might be a little bit of a wait. I do small custom orders with prepaid paypal faster....
It's all good though.

inside-out is generally twice the price of the wrap and rake though. But I have a couple of customers who really like it.
I do it with encased cane and everything. It is all condensed and melted in right.

I did not like this milli as much as the others. It looks nice but it was hard to snap off as well as the others.
I would trade 1/2 the piece plus shipping ( $5.25) for something cool that snaps off better.

I am selling all the glass I have in the studio today. I will be making more. So I can almost always honor requests. Except sometimes it takes a wile. Especially if you want the all color spoons. I am not able to stock that much color all the time. I just make them for this one shop really. They are real patient with waiting to get more color stocked and there stuff made. So if your patient I may have them again. I will post when I do.

You are still waiting on your cons ? And back ordered to boot .

You are going to want another Con quick .

Also if you have a cold shop you might have to warm your air a bit to get good function .

I can't wait to see what you think of having two . I here conflicting statements lots of bead folks love a bravo on 16 lpm .

Most pipe guys seem to like 20 or more lpm on a bravo .

Nomad

yeah I heat up the shop before I turn on the equipment and go out into it. Should be ok.
I got two 10 lpm 20 psi machine. I hope it works well. I was actually using 15 psi on the regulator and tank.
They should be here tomorrow or friday. I think maybe one tomorrow and the other friday according to UPS.

Nomad

It was a big investment for me. So I hope it works out ok. I don't really have the money for another one right now.
I am following the manufacturers suggestion of getting two 10 lpm machines first. More pressure is not supposed to make it work better. It is a low pressure torch.
